I stated the obvious. A 2 party system is of course umbrella politics (although there is more heterogeneity on the left). Right wing authoritarianism has been found, via psychological experiment, to be consistent with Republican party identity and not Democrat. I know you fellows struggle with reality mind you.

 

I don't even know what right wing authoritarianism means. Right wing means limited government. How can you have limited government and authoritarianism?

While I read that, perhaps you can read up on left wing authoritarianism such as China, the USSR, North Korea, Vietnam, Cambodia, Cuba, Venezuela and Nazi Germany.

 

Go to scholar and search for right wing authoritarianism. Stop pretending perhaps?

There isn't any such concept. There is analysis into, for example, Stalinism. However, lefties hate that bobbins. See Orwell's cartoon if you need a clue!

I have heard quite a few conservatives talk as if Orwell was promoting an authoritarian society. It is almost as if they missed the warnings he was giving us.

 

That they misread him, for example, as right wing is the ultimate 1984 cartoon. Left-Libertarians are unfortunately beyond America. A McCarthyism history has created a cretinous understanding of libertarianism

It seems to me that bashing liberals, Democrats, environmentalists, feminists, immigrants, and others has become a pillar of conservative thought. If one listens to right wing media, a common thing that one hears is conservative commentators twisting every story, and often in a quite dishonorable way, to put the above mentioned in a bad light. All of the conservative commentators usually do it on an hourly basis. If that is all conservatives hear, how do you expect them to think otherwise?

And yes, on this forum, pick a thread, any thread, and the familiar pattern emerges. Liberals, and some conservatives, trying to have discussions with well thought out replies, and along comes the usual conservatives who seen to have little more to say than to bash liberals. Like the threads about homelessness. All the conservatives seem to have to offer is to blame Democrats, and usually in a less than honorable manner.
