Several law enforcement officers in Memphis were injured during a protest that began after federal officials killed a man they were attempting to arrest Wednesday, officials said.

A driver wanted on multiple felony warrants attempted to ram law enforcement vehicles when officers with a regional U.S. Marshals Service fugitive task force attempted to arrest him in Memphis' Frayser community about 7 p.m., Tennessee Bureau of Investigation public information officer Keli McAlister said. The man, who has not been publicly identified, then got of the vehicle with a weapon, McAlister said.

I was listening to this on the police scanner last night, pretty wild. People livestreaming on FB telling viewers to go loot the city since all the officers were at the scene. Off duty officers and officers from Arkansas were called in for assistance.

All of this because a drug dealer with multiple felony warrants was killed after ramming his car into officers vehicles and stepping out with a weapon.

    RIP young homie.

The plus side is, things seem to have settled down and the police showed serious restraint after being pelted with bricks and rocks. The city of Memphis is in trouble. Itll go the way of Baltimore, where people stop signing up to work as officers.

Memphis has become a cesspool of crime. Can't imagine why.

At least two journalists were attacked last night as well. One was hit on the head, knocked down, and told to leave.

See my link to a candidate for Mayor... See the NAACP was "monitoring" it minutes after the shooting.

Really - was the Rodney King incident also associated with President Obama? Let's take it back a bit further, how about the Tulsa riot?

It does not hold a candle to the center of the cesspool of crime in the US, Washington DC.

I didn't say it was the worst place to live in the country but what I said was true. Nice try at deflecting though.

    Good point.

The simple truth is that if local authorities and federal authorities wanted to end the street dealing and drug cartels, they could.

Just as they created the conditions for such behavior to thrive by passing the drug prohibition a century ago, they could end it by repealing that same prohibition, just as Milton Friedman, William Buckley and other Nobel-winning economists have been pointing out for decades.

Lots of places where democrats have run cities are in the unfortunate position Memphis is. Lots of ghettos created by liberals who gave the building contracts to their buddies, concentrating poverty, and crime into little pockets of sublime chaos that justify their further efforts to need more and more money to fill the coffers of their "programs" designed to help "solve" the problems they themselves created.....

And, shocker, folks are leaving. Folks are refusing to move back because of the crime. And the democratic politicians fight any attempt to actually improve their situations. And more folks leave.

    *Taxpayers are leaving.

And in a city already strapped for cash, it's just a spiral downward into despair and poverty for those still remaining.

Chicago is attempting to tax those who are leaving the city... that's how desperate the situation has become.

Possibly, I'm sure dear Brandon would have been an outstanding young man and obeyed the laws had drugs been legal. Thanks for that input. Makes perfect sense.

    Her tweets

“Every life lost should matter...every single one. How many times will this be ok? It cannot continue to be,”

"So you can’t start your story at, they used tear gas bc someone threw a rock. You have to start @ 300 people filled a street bc one of their own was murdered & shot more than a dozen times by US Marshals. Then a few people threw a rock. Then there was tear gas. Different story."

So those 300 people were all fleeing felons with weapon who had just endangered the police? That's what she thinks of her community? This is the leadership that will rid the neighborhood of these criminals in the first place?

Was actually born in Memphis but never lived there. Have traveled to Memphis for business for over 40 years, still do, and have seen the spiral downward and the white flight as the crime rate soars and the black city officials are more concerned with "we are all oppressed" that actually fighting the crime, getting businesses back into the city and jobs.

Rodney King was almost 30 years ago and Tulsa was what, almost 100 years ago? So you're okay with Obama pushing race relations back to those days?

That's the point. Race relations had made astronomical improvements in the last decades, until Obama came along and decided he'd rather escalate racial tensions back to 1960's levels.

That will be one of his worst and most everlasting legacies.

Memphis has had, what, like 50 murders this year?

But THIS shooting, ahh hell naw!!

Maybe if they were protesting the crime to begin with, he wouldn't have been there.

It's not like nobody knew who he was or what he was doing. Oh well.

Unbelievable, officers risk their lives to apprehend a dangerous criminal and instead of wanting to give them a medal people riot? What is WRONG with them?
