It is not that the united states has more firearm-related violence than most other countries. Rather it is that the united states has more acts of violence in general than most other countries. Regardless of the implement utilized, the united states always has more violence than most other countries that are held up as a comparison. Even if the number of firearm-related deaths in the united states dropped to zero, the united states would still have more homicides than any other so-called "first world" country it is compared to.

And yet such is not the case, as is demonstrated by the nation of Mexico and the nation of Venezuela, amongst others.

That's quite true. In the 1930's the Soviet educational system was something of a model for the world in regard to the education of youth in marksmanship. That and the long standing tradition of gun skills in Siberia is one reason Russia had so many excellent snipers in WWII.

It also gives the lie to the fetish that tyrants cannot prosper if the populace is armed. The Soviet citizenry was not only armed but well trained in the use of modern weaponry from an early age The communists wanted their comrades to be able to resist the inevitable invasion by the running dogs.
