The US empire is becoming increasingly desperate and transparent. Even people inside the US are increasingly aware of how often the US manipulates events in order to create pretexts for war. Trump is probably the deep state's last chance to destroy Iran. Because after that, no other president will even entertain such insanity. Even Trump seems somewhat resistant to war with Iran, though Trump's own fecklessness and cowardice has allowed the situation to spiral out of control.

 

Such an attack runs clearly counter to Iran's strategic best interests. That alone should be enough to disqualify them as a real suspect.

Yup. I used to think the same way. Use to be 100% pro-Israel too. But there is simply too much evidence indicating Israel's treachery and falseness. It is impossible for an honest person to ignore.

The USS Liberty. Israel deliberately and knowingly attacked a US Naval vessel with the intention of framing Egypt. Thankfully, the brave souls aboard the USS Liberty did not go quietly into that good night. They lived to tell the truth only to have false patriots call them liars and kooks. But real patriots will never forget the USS Liberty. Nor will they forget who was responsible for it.

How about the Houthis. They have been managing some successful attacks on the saud's recently.

The Saud's seem to be the ones most disappointed believing a couple of weeks ago that the US was moving away from war. They called several meetings to try and get the entire ME on its side against Iran - even tried being friends with Qatar but that did not seem to be working. Iran is not a war the US can win. It is not a war Israel can win. That is why no one has tried it yet. I can't find it but earlier I noticed one European authority figure saying that the Middle East was clearly a much safer place when we had the Iran deal working and again a couple of weeks ago people were saying Trump would give so much if he could only get it back.

 

I don't know what the internal politics of Iran are so I can't comment on your assessment. My personal opinion is that all theocracies are political snake pits.

OTOH, what is Iran's objective in conducting these attacks? To relieve sanctions? Hardly seems rational. In instigate a war? Hardly seems rational. What does seem rational is MSB trying to suck American into destroying his ancient enemy while he cleans up yemen. And its not like he doesn't have leverage with Trump.

 

This could be a major event.

What should the US response be? Attacking the merchant fleet of another country in international waters is an act of war.

What should the world response be? The world has to protect international waters.
