If it’s the Russians then there is another method - full economic blockade. The US controls major semiconductors and software developers. Shut Russia off international banking, revoke all flying right, order Microsoft, Google, apple and others to disable all of their software on machines located in Russia (which will cripple all businesses), prohibit American semiconductor companies like Intel and AMD from licensing any boards with their product for sale in Russia. There are lots of other things that could be done too. That alone will disable most of computers and all smartphones in Russia, bringing their businesses and banking to the halt and inflict major recession.
Russia’s economy is just 2% of the world GDP. Crippling Russia without firing a single shot would be pretty easy.

Oh please, the only false flagging in this are tankers registered to Liberia. The Iranians have done this before and the US gave them a hiding.

 

Maybe, maybe not. There is no reason to believe Qatar would fight with the Sauds and although the Bahrain Regime was kept in place by the Saud's in order to stop democracy there, they are a majority Shia population and I read could be a problem to the Saud's if they get started on Iran.
