    I really want to watch the US team and cheer them on hut when the chosen capitan turns it into being about her sexual preference and stupid and unpatriotic political stances it just urns me away. If you can't represent the country then do not take a place on our national team so that you can personally profit from being on it. We don't care you prefer sex with women. We don't care you hate Trump. We care about you being part of Americas team, showing gratitude for being allowed to play on it and respect for our country. If you can't do that then go home.

    Last month, United States women’s national soccer team captain Megan Rapinoe told Yahoo Sports, “I’ll probably never put my hand over my heart” for the national anthem ever again...

    At Tuesday’s World Cup match against Thailand, Rapinoe kept her word. The openly gay forward refused to put her hand over her heart and sing along to the national anthem, which was apparently a “F you” to “sexist,” “racist,” and “small-minded” President Donald Trump.

    How small-minded of Megan Rapinoe. I didn't refuse to put my hand over my heart and sing the national anthem when a man I considered a nihilistic ANSWERnik traitor - Barack Obama - was president of the United States. Our country is much more than its politics and politicians, but people like Megan obviously lack the intelligence and thoughtfulness to grasp this very simple concept.

    Not very impressive at all, but one of the great things about our country is that unintelligent, small-minded people like Megan Rapinoe and Colin Kaepernick are free to make a public display of their stupidity. :beer:

    Did this woman like Obama and vote for him back in 08, when he explicitly stated marriage is only between a man and woman? Obama didn't change his tune until AFTER he was elected, sometime around 2010.

    She was doing it BEFORE DIRTY DONALD became president so you obviously jumped to the wrong conclusion.It is her way of protesting the inequality in our country.

    So? And what does that have to do with Trump? Like I said, since Obama was a total bigot and homophobe, did she kneel back in 08? He must have really hated gay people, since he didn't' think they should marry.

    That shipped sailed for me when they crush an opponent 13-0..... no excuse for that.... after a 5 or 6 goal lead, they can just kick it around in midfield. Go Sweden (or anybody else) after that...

    That's a rule change that soccer needs to consider going forward in these rare blowouts.... Allow unlimited substitutions when the lead is over 5 goals... Every other sport can clear the bench, but you are still only allowed 3 subs in soccer?? Of course, even the last person on the US bench is eons better than the best Thai player, so that wouldn't have kept the score down either...

    On topic, I just can't tell what you hate more... Rapinoe's sexual orientation or women playing sports?? I imagine they're both essentially unforgivable in certain circles..

    blah, first I've heard of this and frustrating as a fan to see someone playing on a national team refusing to honor the anthem.

    Does it ever occur to you she has no right to be there and should be grateful to represent our country on our national team and to show respect for it and not use it for her self-serving political acts embarrassing the country. If she doesn't want to stand for our country and represent it then GO HOME.

    Maybe she should play on the National team for one of the 73 countries who still criminalize homosexuality........particularly one of the eight countries where she should be put to death for being a carpet muncher. Oh wait.........that would be terrible ‘virtue signaling’ as most of those places are run by ‘people of color’.........

    I agree - it's hard to root for a team that would put on such a cringeworthy display of poor sportsmanship. Not only did they set a terrible example for all the young athletes out there, many of whom look up to those women as role models, they embarrassed the entire country, which was much worse than one player embarrassing herself during the National Anthem.

    I couldn't get enough of the last two squads but this one is losing its luster in my eyes....
