benefits for the working class you mean?

Republicans also offer freebies... just to the rich that do not need them

Shhh, you are messing with a state of denial and state police may be dispatched to stop your aggressive acts....I do like how the benefits never cease during times of government control by the Repubs they must want to buy votes also.

Of course they buy votes, through unpaid-for tax cuts. Who doesn't like and additional $100 in their paycheck, especially when the bill won't be apparent until years later? Instant gratification rules, especially in the Trump voting bloc.

So you accept that Trump is an economic ignoramus. That's a good start.

Most of that increase reflected the impact of calendar quirks that shifted $55 billion in June benefit payments into May.

Right in the OP.. perhaps read before you jump down peoples throats.

first raise taxes on the rich back to where they were and close the tax loopholes for the rich

then end all these useless middle eastern 10+ year wars

restrict foreign outsourcing and foreign imports to get American jobs and quality products back

    stop recommending low fat diets

raise the min wage to a level where no food stamps, ect are needed

then social service needs of the public will drop on their own

    Reagan isn't in office.
The debt/deficits are at records with R congress and R prez.
    So blaming D's is pointless.

Reagan's/Clinton's and Bush's "booming economy"revenue growth rates were significantly higher than Trump's revenue growth rates, and the fact is; YOU KNOW THAT!

My question to you; Why do we currently have a NEAR ZERO revenue growth rate?.....YOU TELL ME.

Cumulative receipts Jun 18- May 19; $3.379 Trillion

    Cumulative receipts Jun 17 - May 18; $3.371 Trillion

Over the last twelve months, revenues are up $8 billion????????

    Revenue Growth Rate: $3.371 trillion + 0.24% = $3.379 trillion

Up one quarter of one percent????????

    WTF?

    Source; Monthly Treasury Statement

Programs like SNAP exist because wage growth has been stagnant for decades, and it is impossible for many working class folks with fulltime jobs to make ends meet.

You realize that $116 billion is about 10% of the projected deficit for this year alone, right? In other words, even if we completely stopped spending all monies on illegals, instead of a trillion dollars, the deficit would "only" be $900 billion. And that's assuming ALL the spending on illegals is by the federal government (which it isn't- most spending is state and local).

Through the first eight months, the budget deficit has grown almost 40% compared to the same eight month period last year. The CBO projects that the total budget deficit for 2019 will be 15% higher than 2018.

    ALSO "right in the OP."

Spending so far this year totals $3.01 trillion, up 9.3 percent from the same period in 2018, while government receipts total $2.27 trillion, an increase of 2.3 percent.

Interest on the $22 trillion national debt is one of the fastest growing parts of the budget with net interest payments totaling $268.3 billion, up 15.6 percent from a year ago. That reflects the fact that interest rates have risen and there is now more debt to finance

Spending more and higher debt payments due to the higher interest rates.

CBO projects a 15% total deficit for 2019

The debt payments are up.... 15.6% Throw in higher spending and there you go...

    Enjoy..

Are you for cutting spending yes or no?

Start with Trump's hotels and golf clubs.

And then raise taxes in order to increase revenue.

SNAP (foodstamps) participation is lower than it was three years ago, when we had much lower deficits. Entitlement and military spending are the main drivers of the deficit.

Allowing people to control and spend their own money is a good thing. The government just wastes half of what it takes in.

More economic freedom is good ... Hong Kong > China.

SNAP is only one of about 50 free giveaway programs and just a small part of the 1 trillion a year we spend on those.

And they'd be better off if both were privatized.

I cry when I think of the nest egg I could have had if I invested my SS tax money on my own.

if it's a sure thing that it woudl be better, then the government can't lose

course if the market tanks, the government gonna have to come up with the money
