Trump does not know how to win friends. He knows how to sell simplistic Archie Bunker pablum to the right wing talk radio crowd, which love simplistic pablum.

Trump has no team, and has never made any attempt to build one. Not in business, and certainly not in politics.

One of the things that should have been a serious warning sign during his campaign was that fact.

Trump marketed himself as a billionaire successful real estate developer running this successful company.

But there was no parade of current and former Trump Organization executives out there to tell us how brilliant Trump is or what a great leader he is.

None.

And there are none now.

Robert Bork was the guy who finally executed Nixon’s Saturday Night Massacre. It was an affront to even nominate him.

Iran/Contra was not a war, it was a scandal; there is a huge difference. Reagan's advisors if not the man himself were funding rebels in Nicaragua (the Contras) by selling arms covertly to Iran. Crack doesn't even enter the equation.

 

Reagan's fiscal and for policy were distinctly different from those of the Nixon and BushI wings …. although Bush I was an honorable man and probably more fiscally "prudent" than Nixon … who fcked with the Fed and ushered in a recession and hyperinflation.

But Reagan changed the gop from within through reason, persuasion and not a small amount of charm and humility.

Throughout his term, Carter was at odds with the liberal wing that had run the dems since 1932, and he blamed Ted as much as Reagan for his loss in 1980, so I don't see how this is just a republican issue. And his Egypt Israel peace deal was plowing new ground.

All I can say positively about Trump is that I think he is pretty much sincere in thinking the world has screwed over the US with bad deals on everything from defense to kias from 1948 to the present. I don't think he's all wrong but "a man has to know his own limitations."

Why Meese got Reagan to ever nominate Bork was a mystery. The guy who carried out Nixon's Sat Night Massacre was not getting through a dem senate. And a dem senate is not going to confirm anyone who'd overturn Roe
