I am originally from Charleston, SC (love it!) and live at the Jersey shore in a Republican area of the state. Did you know that California cities have the highest levels of air pollution in the US? I hope you don't live near LA, Bakersfield, Fresno, Modesto, Visalia or San Diego ...sounds very unhealthy...

Charity has a voluntary nature. That is why government cannot conduct charity. Unless its compelled, it's no good to a state-supremist.

I mention Nixon's Orange county birthplace. Factoid: Gerald Ford moved to California: "Following his years as president, Ford remained active in the Republican Party. His moderate views on various social issues increasingly put him at odds with conservative members of the party in the 1990s and early 2000s"
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gerald_Ford

Trumped up Republicans call President Ford a RINO :roflol:

California is as closely identified with democrats as Jerusalem is identified with Jews.

Correct. And like the Republican in San Luis Obispo who became Democrat in order to win, two Congressmen in Orange county did the same thing. Are they jumping ship?

"by the way" - What's that supposed to mean?

As it is right now, Carlos, we agree. I think that, by and large, all of the right people are in all of the right places. I will never, ever attempt to persuade anyone from California to come to our county. As far as I'm concerned, the distribution of our population is as close to ideal as we can get. You have your democrat run, densely populated corridors, and we settle for what's left over. Seems fair to me. You guys have the eastern and western most 100km as well as similar corridors around some parts of the gulf and the great lakes - real choice real estate.

Quarantining 85% of our nation in 15% of our country grants electoral college powers to those not in densely populated places. I'm personally very happy with the current distribution of the US population.

Please, don't "jump ship" Carlos. Please, stay in California. It's a democrat paradise after all.

You certainly are aware how quickly Ohio can vote Democratic. Kasich deplores Trump every night on CNN

Part of the reason Nevada is blue is the large number of Californios living in Vegas. Arizona is a toss up state now especially considering people like McCain & Flake who hate Trump.

Why do grown “men”, who don’t live in particular state, whine about the state of things in that state?

You mean you don't believe that Reagan raised taxes like no other governor, signed liberal abortion policy, enacted strict environmental measures, opposed anti-gay hysteria, didn't talk about religion?

NOT California born. Age 5 to California.
I am :flagus: born and not :flagcanada: as some have cursed me.
I've driven cross country several times and lived in Milwaukee for 2 years,
    Nashville for 1 year.

From all my driving, I always found it remarkable how good the roads are
in California. Living 4 years in San Francisco made me aware the roads
are a little bit better in the south.
On the other hand, roads in Eureka / Arcata are quite good. And they get all that rain too.

Sure there are islands of bad roads such as the City of Compton that
corrupted a special road repair tax to private pockets. But, hey it's a
    "Black City"
. Try a search on that News story.

    BTW @carlosofcali
I "donated" $7,000 to the family of a wrongfully deported friend.
First $2000 wasted at the Latino Legal Aid :blahblah: owned by Chinese.
Then $5000 plus a "mean Jew lawyer" who did get him out of "custody"
at the O.C. jail after his return but placed there until final disposition.
    Who are YOU but a . . . . ;)
You do not know me. Stop the attacks. :peace:

Nothing good comes from disagreeing with people rather than ideas, but the very worst things come from agreeing with people rather than ideas. I agree with some of president Trump's ideas and disagree with others, but I would rather tolerate his ideas with which I disagree than have your ideas imposed upon me by force of law.

"Force of law" or election results? Remember Trump claimed "millions" of illegal votes in 2016 that his special commission later refuted. The guy is a pathologic liar. No school will ever be named for him and what college would even accept his presidential library?

I, for one, am quite happy with the state of the State of California. California does more to quarantine those who would otherwise change what we love about everywhere else than any other state.

Fine. No skin off my teeth. I'm not a people person; I'm an idea person. I like President Trump's ideas; and the ideas of his that I don't like, I find far preferable to any idea I've ever read from you and those who agree with you.

On the contrary, these former Republicans follow the desire of the voters. They're not fools who promote today's Republicanism. They want to win and adjust politics back to how old Republican's operated in California. Orange county turned Democratic in the 'blink of an eye' because of Republican turncoats.

How would you know that when you have only been part of PF community since

Sort of odd you would know how many times a poster has said ANYTHING over a five year period but cant recall another poster posting where they lives in the same thread ;) This site has some real anomalies, that's for sure :)
