Equally, I pay less than £4,192 in tax.

Also, if you pay a minimal amount per month, you have to pay the additional thousands for treatment.

Does it upset you that some people can earn a good living?

My preference is to open up Medicare for anyone who wants it and still allow private coverage.

But you want to pay much less than those who earn more than you

    That's nice.
Who do you want to pay for it?

lol... well.... that part is free.

Government pays for it, so it's free.... RIGHT?

Free stuff is good and does not cost us our future, our freedoms, our independence, our free markets.

I am not good at being a Leftist, so please forgive the previous three lines.

Mello, Bernie's "Medicare for All" plan isn't Medicare. It is Universal Health Care, using the Medicare name. Medicare Parts B and D rely upon private health insurers. It is a partnership of the government and private insurers. Bernie's plan basically covers everything, making the government the only insurer and making private health insurers obsolete.

There is really only one way to pay for this, and that is for progressive taxation tied to income. Lower income people cannot afford the taxation, and the middle class can only tolerate some small amount of taxation, so the lion's share will be paid for by the upper middle class and high-wealth classes.

But keep in mind that this will cause those higher classes to pay more for health care than they do now, a lot more, and they will resist that. For example, a $1 million/year household may be paying a private insurer $20k/year to cover a family of four. If you tax that household 10% to pay for Universal Health Care, that costs them $100k. Now, regardless of whether you think that's fair or not, they will resist. And you watch. The Democrats who want to do that to them are going to see campaign donations from the wealthy dry up fast.

Why do you think California could not institute a similar plan a few years ago? It was precisely for this reason. And California has a super-majority of Democrats in both houses of the state legislature and they hold the governorship ... and they could not do it. They are the wealthiest state in the nation with something like the 5th or 6th highest GDP of all nations in the world.

And who do you think Congress listens to? The little guy? If you think so, I've got a bridge to sell you. They listen to the wealthy, including all the hypocritical Democrats who publicly act like they care for the little guy. They listen to the wealthy.

Or watch the debt EXPLODE like never before.

right now, not sure either system would work long term unless we fix the "Standard America Diet", as more and more are getting sick from eating too much sugar and processed seed oils from the corporate meal plan

I’m not a fan of Bernie and would probably like something more moderate than a plan he’s supporting.
I don’t want to lose my awesome Cadillac plan, but I don’t want to see people going uninsured.

he said you could keep your plan, which you could... he did not say your employer could not change your plan, which they did before and will continue to do in the future - I can keep my netflix too, doesn't mean they wont change the plan on me someday, but I can still buy the plans they offer, my choice

but of course Obama was referring to the public option which we never got sadly

Obama meant, you could choose public or private... your choice

same here, my employer did not change me under Obama, but did change me under Bush

as long as the employer controls insurance, they will have that power over us

Trump has sabotaged the ACA, so he was last to touch it and owns all the health care issues now

    You.

The people who want this aren't about to pay for it themselves...

Too bad everyone wasn't as fortunate as you.

By the way, if FullRetardCare is so great why hasn't everyone dropped their private insurance to get their hands on that turd?

No body forces employees to accept insurance.

Bernie's state dropped a plan to implement a single payer system because it was too expensive, too...

Okay. That is a good starting point for a discussion. Last time I checked, only 8.8% of the entire population had no health insurance. Everyone else has it from one source or the other. Finding a way to cover that 8.8% should not be an insurmountable problem in this country. In the past, I have suggested that medical insurance for an employee and his/her dependents ought to be a part of employee compensation. In other words, if you work, you're covered. I think this would do a lot to reduce that 8.8%.
