I have taught for many many years and I have yet to meet a parent who would tell a child to lie cheat and steal. What you don’t understand is separation of adolescents and parents. I is normal. am finishing a book on this very topic and it is necessary for children to separate from parents. Did you ever have a drink or smoke a cigarette behind your parents back? Every parent tries to teach the children right from wrong but sometimes the teen thinks the parents are just wrong. (Like my parents who said rock and roll was bad’ ) And when parents put moral judgments they very often slam the doors of communication. I have been the confidante of well over 2000 teenagers and most of them are good kids
They have to rebel a little and we just hope they do it by listening to music you hate or ridiculous clothes . And one of my parents groups of father was devastated because his son got his ear pierced and one woman looked at him and said I would give anything for that problem, my son runs away and does drugs.

Many , many years ago I read an article about a woman who had been raped by FIVE local "boys"...….the judge dismissed the case, saying "boys will be boys"... ( of course this was somewhere in the SOUTH)
