The nonsense of reparations

Democrats waste time on reparations to pander for votes for black people. It wont happen because it is against the law.

Besides that bill was paid in full 150 years ago by the men in the Union Army, both black and white. And----------------anyone that might have been paid died over 50 or more years ago.

 

Reparations is nonsense and the people talking about it understand that. But it allows them to continue discussing slavery indefinitely. It's all about sympathy and victimhood.

In the year 2300, some black huckster will try to extort money from government and will (once again) bring up the reparations issue.

 

Let's not mention the trillions in welfare over the years.

 

I don't think it's a political issue but rather just a common sense issue. I consider myself pretty far left and I agree it's not called for.

 

Reparations hasn’t been paid those who fought in Vietnam wasn’t granted any of the GI bill to go to college. But the Jewish people were granted a certain status in America an acknowledgment and rightly so. It is not a big issue to me in the advancement of our society. Education, healthcare, etc given equally is what will uplift all people. Reparations is just a step that says we want you here and we are sorry that you got no benefit from enriching our country.
It is symbolic and it says we as a people won’t ever do it again you are Americans.

But the welfare argument is a bust. White Americans and corporations have all gotten way more welfare than black Americans because of population and they got the best housing and benefits. So don’t give me less and call it equal.

 

It is a political issue. The DNC knows that they are losing Black voting support to Donald Trump and this is causing them to panic . . . as no leftist can possibly become president without Blacks voting Dem party in almost a uniform voting block. So this is a transparently blatant attempt to simply BUY black votes for the eventual Dem Party presidential nominee using the traditional Dem Party method of making taxpayers FUND the political tactic.

 

Black people aren’t voting republican. Republicans don’t even try to get their vote. Enough said

 

Since Democrats were the slave owners, segregationists, and they were responsible for the legislation designed to break up black families and doom black communities to abject poverty, perhaps Democrats should pay reparations to blacks and Republicans who descended from those who died in the war we fought to free the slaves.

 

Perhaps avoid TheRoot and The Daily KOS and MSNBC and CNN for legitimate news outlets. Trump has been acknowledged by leftist political experts to be gaining support in the collective Black community. So it goes.

How are reparations against the law?

 

It depends on the final legislation, but from what I can make of it, blacks will receive money from whites.

Let's just say that if you or anybody can figure out a way to word it without running afoul of the law, I will certainly doff my hat to that person.

I'm not clear which law would be violated. We've already had reparations for Japanese camp survivors, and no law was broken then.

 

When did Jewish people become a protected class? As far as I am aware, Jewish people are victims of Affirmative Action. When it comes to our minority status, we are victims of quotas employers place on the number of minorities they hire. So, the only benefit Jews gain is knowledge that they have to work hard for every benefit we gain. Looking around, it appears we took the challenge and ran with it.

 

That's because the actual people who had been interned were awarded compensation for having their constitutional rights violated by the federal government.

I'm sure you realize that there is nobody alive today who was a slave prior to the civil war.

 

Jewish people can pass as white but I don’t want to get in an argument of who suffered more. Indians have us all beat. Quotas? Really. What is a quota for blacks other than awww man we have to hire black people. What happens when a black man or woman gets a Mercedes? They are harassed cuz they are suspected drug dealers. The Jewish people are my allies I’ll fight for them. It’s not either or it’s they make it suck for multiple races in different ways it is all wrong. No my suffering trumps your suffering it is people need to be treated better and those who aren’t need to acknowledge each other. We can’t make change being separated and argue over mere acceptance.

 

My advice is to stop driving those funny foreign cars and get a 75 Cadillac eldorado drop top.

White people don't collect welfare?

 

Whites are on the dole as well so this reasoning don't hold water.

 

Those stereotypes are there no matter what your skin color. I used to have a yamaha rd400 daytona, as well as a kawasaki H2 triple back in high school, and those things attracted cops like crack attracts crackheads. They just assumed that because I was riding a cafe racer, that I was the ghost rider.

In actuality, they were chick (and with the daytona, guy) magnets. Chicks dig bad boys, so the same reason those bikes attracted cops, they also attracted girls.

Try having a beer belly and a beard while riding a harley. You might as well carry a ticket bucket for all the turn signal and stop sign infractions you'll get.

 

Correct, but that doesn't make it illegal, at least as far as I can tell. You mentioned that it would be illegal, and I'm not seeing how.

 

The problem would be establishing what is called "standing". That means I can prove that I was personally hurt.

With the Japanese, congress established their standing. Each recipient was identified as being American citizens or legal residents who had been interned without due process. There are records kept, dates and places are known.

I say it would be illegal if it was just a blanket "the blacks get money" because that would be as illegal as giving money to white people for being white.
