Forefathers didn't have camps with food, water and medicine waiting for them when they got to the US.

Like "doctors without borders", those who feel strongly about such things can volunteer to run aid stations in such places. Those who want to contribute can donate funds to assist in running them. Govts can contribute a percentage of what they would have spent on illegal aliens. Etc etc. If said countries remain terrible, nothing can be done. At least the First Worlders who care will be doing real good, in situ. No need for suffering people to uproot their entire lives and risk dangerous journeys to some completely unfamiliar place half a world away.

Yeah the only way would be to take the government's sticky fingers out of the equation and put the benefit into the hands of a well respected, closely watched institution with a vigilant oversight committee. Like maybe the United Way?

No need to pay more - just need for the money already allocated to be spent appropriately. And I don't really like to put a dollar value on treating people like human beings.

They didn’t have to go home because the land was not settled. Too bad the Indians did not call dibs.

The Government has been mis-allocating money since it started, that's not going to change. Government is simply too big to monitor it all. Who do you plan on forcing to give up their gravy train? We could close the Dept of Education and let the states take care of it themselves? We could do the same with the worthless HUD? What do you think your chances of that happening? There are 9000 homeless in Los Angeles County alone, should we take better care of asylum seekers than we do the homeless citizens? We both know it's not getting fixed without a tax hike, so again how much more in taxes a year are you personally willing to pay to help them?

You have continued on whining that no one answered your question, even though many did.

The conditions at even the worst of holding centers in the united states cannot possibly be anywhere near as bad as the locations these individuals are supposedly fleeing from.

    What's the question?

Is it something like "is this analogous to what happened to the natives with our ancestors?" The answer is: yes, absolutely, which is why illegal immigration is a bad thing.

Mine came here legally if they want to come here apply at the Consul or Embassy in their countries, follow proper procedures and then wait and if you are in danger under our asylum laws then fine follow proper procedures but the law for that is a narrow definition being in danger from crime back home or being poor are not proper grounds apply to some other nation. And we provide the basic care that is enough to meet any treaty we ratified as to the care of persons we are holding. Its better than going to one of our prisons.

Chances are, our 'forefathers' sat in a musty prison cell for weeks to months awaiting entry into the US, where they then had to immediately find work or sleep on the street.

Most of the rest of our forefathers came here as slaves or as soldiers.

Coming here to be immediately granted housing, food and medical care is a recent developement.

Good job. Out of the roughly 20 responses to my question you're the only one that answered it.

In America, we chased our 'forefathers' out for being so authoritarian.

Most Indians didn't become Americans until 1924. All of them didn't become Americans until after WWII. So, strictly speaking, they were never "Native Americans."
