Toronto Raptors won their first NBA championship in their history by defeating the Golden State Warriors a few weeks ago. The Raptors have accepted the invitation of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau but it appears the team is unwilling to visit the White House, just like the Warriors refused to meet Trump after their previous championships.

It is not unheard for professional sports teams/ athletes to turn down invitations to the White House but the number of refusals since Trump has become president is unprecedented. BTW, Obama attended one of the playoff games between the Raptors and Warriors while in Toronto and was given a standing ovation by the Canadians. All basketball teams were invited and attended events at the White House during Obama's presidency but none since 2016.

Why are so many professional athletes unhappy with Trump?

"A White House visit for Raptors is a ‘hard no,’ Danny Green says"
    https://www.washingtonpost.com/spor...pass-danny-green-says/?utm_term=.8584339daff1

"Jim Watson, the mayor of Ottawa, urged the team to come to his city, tweeting: “forget the White House for a victory lap. Come to Ottawa and parliament hill so Canada can congratulate you!"

Green said he assumed the Raptors would be treated just as the Warriors were by the president when they spoke out about declining a White House visit.

“I’m sure he’s going to take his invite back now,” Green said. “If we do decide, he’s going to be like, ‘Well, I didn’t invite them anyway.’ That’s fine.”

Not a single Canadian plays on that team. Actually 11 of them are Americans.

1992 the Blue Jays were invited and attended the White House.

Canadians can't play Bball=) It's all hockey and a decent tennis player or two every decade.

And can someone remind me again what Trump has done that makes him such a racist?

And why not? Who in their right mind would defend or honor such a treasonous America hating buffoon? If you were black you would honor a racist who calls black nations "**** holes"?

The real question is, why did certain delusional right wingers refuse to meet with a true patriot in Obama?

Canada is our closest [geographically] ally and probably all the Raptor players have American citizenship [some from Europe]

    Let's read Trump's words:

Trump was asked by reporters during a meeting with Trudeau about inviting the Raptors to the White House, and he was noncommittal, although he said he had watched some of the playoffs.

“Well, we thought about that. That’s an interesting question,” Trump replied when a Toronto Star reporter asked whether the Raptors would be invited. “They played phenomenal basketball. I watched a little bit of it. They were really terrific. Congratulations, by the way. That was a great job by a great team. So we’ll think about that. If they’d like to do it, we’ll think about that.”

I am glad Trump watches basketball but he doesn't talk about sports much. Probably a Yankee fan.

The point is that our national heroes for kids/ adults tend to criticise/ complain about Trump. There seems to be a lack of connection with people. Aloof [symptoms of narcissistic disorder

The Blue Jays, of course, team to noted Canadians Dave Winfield, Joe Carter, and Robbie Alomar....

Geez... that guy cracks me up sometimes...

On Topic - Good for the Raptors, for winning and for giving Trump the shoulder.... I think it would be great if they did go to Ottawa and maybe meet with Trudeau and other famous Canadians (?? - Geddy Lee?? Bryan Adams??)

No Canadians on the team=) They stick to only a select few sports. And what reason should they refuse an invite to the WH? Only thing I can think of is that THEY are racist for not wanting to be in the presence of a white man. The excuse of most black people that hate Trump is that he's a racist, but I guarantee none of them can actually explain why they think he's racist, besides the lies Democrats keep spewing.

Excellent question. Perhaps Trumper's will share insight into why Trump personally attacks our nation's celebrities.

You make zero sense. So the White House visits are not to honor the players of the championship of the American NBA? The majority of which are all Americans? So does that mean when the London Jaguars win the super bowl they are no longer American and shouldn’t be invited?

If the NBA team was an American team.

If the Jags moved to London, they'd no longer be an American team...they'd be a UK team.
