Well. There was a pretty good bi-partisan solution that was put up for vote back in 2013. Passed the Senate with a comfortable bi-partisan vote. Killed by Boehner in the House, though.

I live and work in a state and area that is 100% dependent on unskilled and lower skilled labor. I will guess that 100% of this labor is made up of immigrants, green card holders, and illegals. Non-immigrants are maybe .1% of the labor force...this is code for white people. The other 99.9 % of the labor force is made up of Hispanics from Mexico, Central and South America. Unquestionably, without this labor, our $35 billion primary farming industry revenue would be in serious jeopardy! For those who believe immigrants 'are a problem' please articulate what my area will be without immigrant labor?

I wasn't thinking about him fleeing an oppressive regime. Just... fleeing...

    Check!

The judges who sent Cohen, Manafort, Flynn, ... and all the others to prison... didn't seem to think it was fraudulent. So... a better bet for Individual 1 to stay out of prison might involve starting to polish up on his Spanish.

    Charges of obstruction of fraud?

Show me which ones of them were charged with collision with Russia.

Nobody was charged with eating dessert before dinner.

But that's not going to keep Trump out of prison. Sorry fella!

The same as mine. We have a robust agricultural sector, and few to none of the workers are illegal. Nor are they 'immigrants'. That is to say, a small percentage will be, but no more than in any other sphere (our brown migrants don't care for 'peasant work'). The majority are younger white citizens, european backpackers, or retired folk.

It's odd that you think the sky would fall if you didn't have South Americans to do your agricultural work for you.

Don't see how it's odd?? A century or more of 100% dependency on migrant labor. Many land owners are white and few of them can interest their white kids in running the businesses...almost no legacy. And, why would an inspiring young educated white kid have any interest in farm work? It's very hard work! How can it be a problem to anyone to have these great people wanting to work on our farms?

There is a reason for that, and it's because those state and area's "Like other of it's kind" take advantage of migrant workers that live in groups in single family housing units because they are paid slave wages...

The wall barely addresses half those who come here and stay without documentation.

We need far more than a wall, and that's going to require a more comprehensive policy - one that addresses why they come, the various ways the come, jobs protection, etc.

I favor the bipartisan comprehensive immigration reform that passed the Senate and would have passed the House had the Republican Speaker not blocked it from coming to a vote.

What problems do you have with that bill?

It's even odder that you think it must be the sons and daughters of landowners who will do the work. That's not what happens here .. workers are seasonal, and come from far and wide (even Europe!). They're mostly young, and are either working during university breaks, travelling the world, or simply from poorer rural families and lacking education. There is nothing about this work that is objectionable, which is why so many actively seek it out. The pay is good, and housing + meals are often provided. This means that whatever is earned in a season can be saved. A kid on college break can stockpile thousands of dollars in 8 weeks. Retirees can fund the next leg of their around-the-country trip in the Winnebago. The backpacker can save enough to see the other half of the world. The poor local kid can save enough to buy a car, etc etc.

Are you saying that young Americans (and students, and grey nomads, etc) are too stupid or too precious to take advantage of an obvious boon such as seasonal ag work?

Republicans and business interests insist that we continue to have a two tier employment system here, with citizens able to enter the jobs for citizens and for labor to include those who are not citizens.

They want that REGARDLESS of ANY immigration reform.

The bipartisan immigration reform bill included several compromises. One was demanded by corporte and Republican interests through organizations such as the Chamber of Commerce - the requiremet that we allow busineses to hire non-ctizen labor which would have no representation, no healthcare, no minimum wage, no provided housing or other recognition of our cost of living, and that could be disposed of for any reason.

Citizen labor can't compete with that.

The idea that Republican calls for border security target jobs for citizens is total nonsense for this and other reasons.

We won't see this happen until we see an actual comprehensive solution, not partisan election rallys by a president who couldn't tell the truth if his pathetic life depended on it.

The problem is they only qualify for refugee status if their life was in danger in their home country. That is less than 10% of the illegals entering the U.S.

The 90%+ who just "want a better life" do not qualify as refugees. But once they get here, they aren't sent back.

Meh. If I remember the right one, it was another bandaid on a sucking chest wound as it did nothing to plug the holes on the border, nor speed along the immigration process.

Ever notice as the alt-lefties understanding that the "resistance" they so carefully planned has fallen flat on their collective asses, and the clown car of democrat candidates is failing to dumb down working Americans, their posts become desperate and far more frequent. Their failure to convince anybody that just because an illegal calls himself/herself/alphabet a refugee, they are no longer illegally in this country.

    https://www.cnn.com/2019/06/24/amer...00-troops-to-us-mexico-border-intl/index.html

"(CNN) Mexico has deployed almost 15,000 troops to the US-Mexico border, according to the country's Secretary of Defense Luis Sandoval.

"In the northern part of the country, we have deployed a total of almost 15,000 troops composed of National Guard elements and military units," Sandoval announced today in Cancun.
Approximately 2,000 National Guard members have already been deployed to Mexico's southern border with Belize and Guatemala, he noted, adding to the 4,500 troops already spread across the area. Many migrants begin their journey in Central America and even further south, passing through Mexico on their way toward the United States.

The deployments come after renewed pressure from the Trump administration on Mexico to help slow migration flows northward. Mexico, however, has also called on the United Nations and the United States to help with the monumental task."

Many Americans may not understand what butters their bread, but many Mexicans clearly understand what butters their bread.

If we only understood what your attempting to describe? Are they building it, are they mowing the lawn, are they growing turnips in the back yard, maybe prostitution?

You care to elaborate or just leave it to everyone imagination?
