If you are so interested then sure, FL, especially Key West and Dominican Republic are my favorites. I’ve been to LA and was not impressed - it’s just a giant suburb. CA beaches are useless - you need to put a surfing suit on to go for a swim. I did enter the ocean a couple of times in August, when it’s the warmest, and each wave felt like you have a bucket of ice poured on you. Our Lake Michigan is warmer than your ocean 2 months out of the year.

 

As a Californian I would gladly like to succeed from the US and rid ourselves of the IRS, Federal Reserve and the unfair influence of the US Senate a powerful body which we Californians are grossly under represented in. Then the red state welfare queens will have to pay there own way and we could keep all of the money we pay in Federal taxes. We are sick of being saddled with crappy corporate lackeys as Federal Judges confirmed by a Senate which is stacked with GOP corporate whores in States with less that 5% of our population. As an independent state, we would be the 6th largest economy in the world and we would not have to be ruled by a bunch of rubes from turd pasture states.

 

So it's Lake Michigan for exotic vacations Wonder how Great Lakes states compete with California for the tourist $

 

We have some of the most beautiful coastline in the world. We have the Sierra Nevada Mountains with Yosemite, Sequoia, Kings Canyon national parks. We have tourist destinations galore. San Diego, San Clemente, Ventura, Santa Barbara, Moro Bay, Big Sur, Monterey and Carmel, Santa Cruz, Napa, Mendocino, Death Valley, Palm Springs. Florida is a reclaimed swamp infested with Alligators and Water Moccasins.

 

The argument pro/ con for California going back to when it was a Republic status is so one-sided. We aren't amenable to foolishness and when Republicans attempt to lead it is worst than a Hollywood b-rate natural disaster film. People here have no need for such amature bible-belt nonsense. Traveling outside the country, we emphasize that we are Californians first who definitely despise Trump as much as the rest of the world.

 

Name one Republican majority state that can boast the natural beauty/ diversity of California.

To call it unimpressive is an understatement. The sidewalks are littered with homeless camps, excrement and urine puddles. Thankfully I live in the SoCal Mountains and it hasn't been polluted yet. In the next few years I will remodel my home, sell it and head for elsewhere. Someplace where it isn't necessary to dodge the feces piles to get to where you want to go. It's so bad in San Francisco, they have an app map where the feces piles are. LA ain't far behind.

There is full on white flight from California. The population of whites has dropped by more than 2 million in the past few decades and the trend looks like it is accelerating. It is pretty clear where this is headed.... a minority of white/asian elites/upper middle class and a vast ocean of poor brown folk living below the poverty level. It will be interesting to see what happens when the number of people living below the poverty line rises above 50%.

California once again bags the title for worst quality of life. A true progressive utopia.
