The subject is keeping nuclear weapons out of the hands of Iran. Your post is nothing but a meaningless distraction to the actual topic. Yeah yeah.....AMERICA BAD......we get it. Not interested.

If supporting terrorism is a meaningless distraction to the topic - then why did you go down that rabbit hole and comment on US support for terrorism in the previous post - and continue commenting in the above post ?

You seem to be unable to heed your own advice.

The fact of the matter is that Trump did connect Iran's support for terrorism to his decision for backing out of a deal - and the objective of that deal was to keep Iran from making nuclear weapons.

Hurting China and Iran much worse to force them to the table. Now Xi is going to meet Trump at the G20. Most thought that would not happen.

What do the China trade talks have to do with preventing Iran from getting nukes ? China already wants to prevent Iran from getting nukes - they do not need convincing by the US and this is not what the trade talks are about.

It was Trump that backed out of the deal which to preventing Iran from making nukes ... a deal that by all informed accounts - was working - "informed" including our own experts.

China would laugh at Trump if he said - "you have to go along with sanctions in order to force Iran to the table". China would simply respond by saying "Iran was already at the table" - "It was the sanctions that pushed them away from the table - and everyone else - including the previous US administration is aware of this fact"

Ok, so if all your Neighbors around you owned guns how would you feel if they said you couldnt? I think it's pretty reasonable for them to feel some type of way!

Nothing prevented Iran from getting nukes, not even the Iran deal since it sunsets in 2030.

Good that Iran had agreed to stop their progress towards getting nukes until 2030 - hopefully after which the deal could be extended.

They play long term. They will get nukes no matter what. They just wanted the sanctions lifted.

I'd ask why? If their answer was because i am constantly chanting death to my neighbors I'd think to myself " maybe they have a point and I am the one who needs to change."

So what is the logic behind allowing Iran to get nuclear weapons?

It's complete bias because if you were Iranian you will feel that your country had the right to defend itself with the same weapons as anybody else.

If i were Iranian I'd be petitioning my government to acknowledge Israel's right ti exist , to stop funding Hamas terrorists. And to stop trying to develop nuclear weapons so that sanctions could be lifted and to get normalized relations with the rest of the world.

Hard to say ............ Since Bush we've become the major threat terrorist in the world.

War makes defense companies a Lot of money.

Trump has done the same but using Finances as a weapon.

However expect Trump to use the Military to deflect from his many problems.

Now is the time to be worried.................

Because of the sanctions Iran appears to be ramping up its efforts - not stopping them as was happening prior to the sanctions. If as you say -"they will get nukes no matter what" - what then is the point of the sanctions as they are hurting us big time and endangering our long term economic security.

We are not "Winning" - we are "Losing". Sure Iran is suffering - and perhaps we are winning in this respect but, what good is capturing a pawn if the cost is checkmate.

In all my years I have never witnessed what is happening now. It used to be that all we needed to do was whisper our desires and other nations would come running. This was because we were the only economic game in town and everyone wanted to play. This is no longer the case - yet - our leaders are acting like it is. This flawed assessment of the geopolitical chessboard is resulting in some horrible moves.

Trump is going around beating our allies and trading partners over the head with a stick in order to force compliance.. going as far as threatening the "nuclear option" - barring banks of these nations from the international system of payments -- US world reserve currency.

This has nations like China and Russia rushing to create an alternative - and a bunch of other secondary nations are joining in. Never mind these folks though - Europe has been using the strongest language - not in private but on the international Stage - phrases like "messing with our sovereignty from Germany, France, Italy and others. Europe too is joining in the effort to create an alternative.

We are "Losing" .. Iraq is giving us the middle finger - as is Turkey. Obviously Syria and Iran but put them all together and we lose the middle east. There are also some smaller nations like Qatar and Oman.

In due course Saudi Arabia is going to turn the other cheek as well - Their biggest customer is China. The ME is going to China and Russia.

Obviously Venezuela is gone to China and Russia and other Latin American nations are looking that direction favorably.

In Africa we are perhaps not "losing" but we are just another face in the crowd.

India just gave us the middle finger - went out and bought the S-400 system despite major protestations from the US .. same with Turkey. India is doing big deals with Russia and China. We are Losing.

Germany gave is the middle finger with respect to the nord stream 2 - again despite protestations from the US. We are losing in Europe. Italy just signed on to China's "belt and road" initiative.

While Trump is going around beating nations over the head with a big stick - Russia - China and others are doing deals.

Make no mistake - the day that a viable alternative to the USD sole reserve status is achieved - the history books will mark that day as the "defacto end" of the US world economic empire ... Full Stop.

This was bound to happen eventually - had you asked me 5 years ago I would have said perhaps in 20-30 years or longer. Now it is looking like any day now. Hopefully Trump will be defeated and this crazyness will end. Unfortunately - the alternative could be just as bad.

The Trump victory was a chance for the GOP to get their act together.. that opportunity has been wasted.

    1) It wasn't but it was the right thing to do.
    2) Exposed Iran for what they really are: A terrorist nation.

Obama and Kerry had already done extensive damage by front-loading the Iran deal with $150 billion in money that was used to increase their nuclear weapons programs and to fund terrorism all over the world. Obama/Kerry also tended to ignore attacks that Iran was responsible for during the negotiations so essentially, they were enabling Iran and standing idly by as Iran committed atrocities and exported terrorism.

Even without the Iran deal, Iran was developing nukes and they had a sunset clause. Israel discovered early on that there were so many loopholes in the deal, that favored Iran, it would be nearly impossible to actually monitor Iran with 100% certainty that they were in compliance. Israel also discovered their covert program to develop a nuclear weapon was moving forward at greater speed due to the influx of new cash.

Personally, I liked the way Reagan handled Iran and one of the biggest foreign policy debacles we have ever made was making this deal with Iran. It will haunt the United States and Middle East for quite some time.

As a side note, we discovered and sent information over to the Pentagon that proved Iran was in Iraq and conducting strikes and terrorist attacks on American troops and on Iraqi citizens. One of their tactics was to find or capture American weapons, shoot up a village with those weapons, then scream that they found American atrocities and how Americans were killing innocent citizens. They also blew up power plants, roads, factories and other essentials to the rebuilding of Iraq. The information was ignored and instead of Obama taking action against Iran, he idly sat by and watched Americans. Obama and his Administration were briefed by Bush and his team about this very subject and the importance of holding Iran accountable but he did no such thing. Obama actually hated being in the Middle East and did everything he could to pull us out.

One thing Trump could have done was stay in the agreement and try to modify it or get rid of the sunset clauses and move towards more inspections. The Iranians had what they wanted though already so it would been met with lots of laughing and shaking of the heads by the Iranian leadership. Why modify a deal that lets you build weapons and you are already paid off?

On another note, I am also hearing another rumor that the drone that was shot down as actually in Iranian airspace and that the Iranians were originally going to target a P-8. Had that happened and that P-8 was shot down, it would have been an act of war that the United States would not ignore.

You really should start a separate thread that deals with Iran's bad habits, because they were not a part of the nuke deal. I think you would find more sympathy there.

Iran is not a terrorist nation - name one Terrorist group whose ideology is Shia ? Where are these Iranian ideology inspired terrorists blowing themselves up in the name of Allah.

Saudi Arabia is a different story. Taliban, Al Qaeda, ISIS, Boko Haram, Al Shabaab, extremist groups in Pakistan India - ALL share the same Saudi inspired extremist Islamist ideology. El Saud has been exporting this ideology all over the world for decades often arming and/or supporting these groups.

Iran supports Hezbolla and Hamas to some degree with various forms of assistance.. much of which is non military and they don't give them sophisticated military technology.

USA on the other hand is a different story - arming Al Qaeda and the Islamist extremist groups in Syria with tens of thousands of tons of sophisticated military technology. The blood feud in Israel would look a whole lot different if Hamas was given that kind of firepower. The fact of the matter is that they are not.

So stop with the nonsense and get a grip. The best place you can get to with the nonsense "Terrorism" argument is hypocrisy.

Not in the modern era. In the modern era the real profits for defense companies are in procurement. That is selling the government actual weapons and supporting systems.

In a war in this current era, the costs of operations (fuel, ammunition, and spare parts) squeezes out procurement.
