They's try to steal his/her gun.

How do they know? Teachers are in front of the class, so the students can see them. In one instance a loaded gun fell out of the teachers pocket and everyone saw it hit the floor. In another instance a teacher accidentally fired his handgun hitting three students.

So, why do you take issue with the teacher defending himself?
    The gun is concealed, so...?
And these impossibly rare incidents are supposed to support the propositions you laid out?

It is yourself and others who are bringing up the scenario of the students being so violent and prone to criminal activities, that they are willing to assault an educator without provocation, all on the basis that they may be able to steal a firearm that may or may not be present. If such is the case, if these students really are prone to such violent tendencies, educators may well have to defend themselves in such a situation.

Someone asked, and I answered. These incidents are already happening even thought it is impossibly rare at this point in time (yet) for teachers to be carrying guns.

Assault is one possibility but I think theft is more likely. I do not think it is common even in the most violent schools for students to actually murder their teachers, but if a firearm is used in the tussle, then obviously the bodies will start piling up. I think most teachers are more willing to take a punch in the face than having to live with a memory of taking a students life. If you have no issues killing a student, then you should never consider being a teacher. Personally I do not consider it enter since I know I would not have the patience.

He meant having a gun is your choice. No place I've seen mandates teachers to have guns, but some places now puts that as an option. My guess is that it won't be a problem at all, as most teachers (as well as most legal concealed carry folks) are for the most part calm, caring, rational people. You aren't going to get rid of guns in this country. The best estimates I've seen put the number of guns at 300-500 million. There is no way that we will ever have a gun-free society, unless you also want to live in a world of no 5th amendment rights. Both the pro-gun and anti-gun folks have the same intent. We don't want children dying in school shootings. We do have philosophically different methods to do so, but don't get us wrong. We love the kids in this country too.

Racist comment. My guess is that there will be no innocent black (or white or Asian or Hispanic) children in schools gunned down by teachers.

Do you live in the US?
If so, don't travel to Florida. Several hundred thousand seniors have had a carry license since the mid 1990's and the streets are running red with blood.
If not, it's probably none of your concern.

No I am an Aussie living in Australia. As I have pointed out to someone else who tried that line....how ironic it is for an American telling someone overseas not to be concerned about or stick their nose into US matters when a great deal of the trouble the Planet faces arises because the US is sticking its nose into the business of other Countries.

The only insanity I see is that you think teachers should be at a tactical disadvantage sould there be a point at which they may need to use force to stop a threat.

Guns equal Shariff? Seems a brain dead dicotomy to me.

What psychic powers go you think carrying a gun Will cause a teacher to go rogue and shoot his class?

A teacher can go rogue and shoot his class even if he isn't allowed to carry a gun.

Do you think a rule is a magical spell?
Stop realizing weapons afford you a tactical advantage? That doesn't make sense.

Nasty, nasty. There's no reason teachers should feel obliged to use firearms to protect students. If you (the public) feel someone needs to use firearms, then hire security.

So a teacher can't illegally carry a gun? If it's against the rules for a teacher to have a gun in school and he brings one anyway and kills 30 people are they less dead because there is a rule?

School shootings exclusively happen in schools where you are not allowed to have a gun. It seems like you don't believe they happen.

    Alex Jones? Is that you?

No you are. Laws against having guns are magical spell that prevent anybody from having guns.

Laws against murder are somehow not magical ...odd.

Costs money. Americans want to have a lot of guns around but they don't want to pay taxes to deal with the consequences.

I taught my entire career in one of the toughest schools in Brooklyn New York. Never was I afraid of a student shooting me. I would never carry a gun. I am not a cop and the cop is not a teacher.
