A recent $1.3 million dollar study undertaken by Freddie Mac has revealed some surprising differences in credit scores between African-Americans and Caucasians.

The study compared the credit scores of members of each ethnic group, leading to data that shows Caucasians earning less than $25,000 per year were likely to have better credit scores than African-Americans earning between $65,000 and $75,000 per year.

Overall, the study found 27 percent of all credit reports belonging to Caucasians were poor, compared to 48 percent of those belonging to African-Americans. Only 28 percent of Hispanics were found to have bad credit.

If a person walks in to borrow $250,000 from you and he has 4 bankruptcies, is currently unemployed, and hasn’t paid any of his previous loans in the last six months, how much money would you give him of your own money?

 

Exactly a market based plan where low income families were assisted in saving for a downpayment which ups their credit score and gives them some home equity to wade through economic slowdowns.

 

We set up laws,... and the banks broke them. They made multi million settlements.... paid to the government,... not to the victim.

growing up as a poor white American... banks would not give me a loan either..... that is the way banks work

they go by credit history, length of employment, income and savings...

not saying over the years there have not been some racist bankers, sure there has, also probably some racist black bankers that wont give a white person on the edge a loan.... it happens, hopefully they all get caught

most banks have automated the risk calculations to protect themselves from such lawsuits
