If you have nothing but logic to guide you, I guarantee you're doing a miserable job of it.
Sure you can, if said belief serves to protect your sacred cows.
Me either. That aside, nobody knows right from wrong without God.
You're under the impression, perhaps, that lovers of lies can't follow that rule?

That blue text is within the quote. You changed the quote and that is against forum rules.

Formal logic has been around for 2400 years, You might want to take a seat while you wait.

Besides, we all know that it was really aliens. ;)

The short answer: Religion will die when it is illegal to indoctrinate children; before they are capable of thinking for themselves as adults.

When the fear of damnation and eternal suffering if you don't comply, is instilled early, it takes a better part of a lifetime to reverse the brainwashing.

Yeah, maybe the question is "when will it be overtaken by science?"

We're getting pretty close to finding whether there ever was life on Mars, whether it is still there, or whether life exists on other planets in the "Goldilocks" zones. We've found it in 700 degree thermal vents at the bottom of the ocean where it lives in methane and on sulfur. Life exists in the 180 degree acid pools in Yellowstone Park. And the building blocks have been found on asteroids. Plus the sequence chain of evolution is being filled in. So I expect that one day science will show that life can be created in the laboratory.

OTOH, it used to be that religionists asserted that God ONLY created life on earth. Now they are saying that, well, if it is found on other planets it's proof God put it there too. So like any good liar, they modify their argument to fit the situation so they can be "right".

Dude, I say DUDE, they make religion out of a piece of toast. :D

However, you can now buy Jesus toasters, so maybe not all bad.

Dude, I say DUDE, :D, you can't trust hard science. But you can trust 2000 year old hearsay.

Didn't anyone ever tell you this?

Religion is based in faith, not logic.

The universe has always existed. The big bang was just a transition.

Happy now, perfectly logical and consistent with M-Theory. But maybe we can use god as an excuse to avoid the next question, until we find that answer.

And much of what was predicted is so vague or so pointless as to make Nostradamus seem coherent.

My god, that must be a capitol offense.....

But then, I changed nothing of what you said, I simply injected the answers immediately following so you wouldn't get so confused.

Solve the problem. Don't reply to my posts at all.....

    Then, you be happy.

Not according to the Jesuits who claim “Give us the man until he’s seven and we’ve got him for life"

Valid points as far as they go but until and unless the vulnerability of our species to experience ‘religious states’ is negated religion will survive.
It’s a wider problem though than fanatical evangelism, bigotry, political power and wealth acquisition demonstrated by organised religious groups.
The same part of our brain that makes us vulnerable to being ’true believers’ is at work in other tribal manifestations; blind nationalism triggering wars, fanatical sport fans bashing each other to a pulp - the list could go on. Tired of saying this but here I go again. The problem is due to a fundamental fault with human psychology which may have had a survival value far earlier in evolution but now threatens the survival of our species.

No, but I daresay it's bad posting etiquitte, as replying point by point to a post formatted like that is enough of a hassle that I don't bother.

Gasp! Has some mean ol' priest wrestled atheists to the ground and then read the bible to them while sprinkling them with holy water? The dastard!

Actually it's starting to look a whole lot like it's atheism that is being imposed on this nation. Certainly it is pretty much emphasized nowadays by leftists teachers inside the leftist operated and controlled public educational system. You know . . . mentally conditioning helpless children and all that stuff?

I figured it out by the age of ten that god doesn’t exist. Amazing to to me how grown adults can actually believe there could be a god.

No problem. It was meant for one specific reader who seems to be unable (or more likely unwilling) to grasp a conventional message.... and invariably insults people, which I consider... bad posting etiquette.

Since forum posting software is so confusing to you it's a good idea to not reply to you. And so that I won't be tempted I'll put you on "ignore". Bye.

I used to believe we were on a consistent upward secular climb, but I think climate change might to reverse it. I theorize whenever there are natural or manmade calamities to which the science of the day has no satisfactory answers, Religious zealotry swoops in. Think of the response to the black death, or major famine etc. Desperation and panic does not lead to greater intellectual vigor, and those will be the bosom buddies of civilization as we move from fire, flood, pestilence, storms and heatwaves, and mass hunger, migration and warfare. We are on a collision course with our worst , most superstitious natures

Science is discovering that the "religious states" are actually functions of the brain that can be induced scientifically. I talked about my own experience with that in the Religion forum recently.

    I'll look into that. Thanks.
It seems the answer, once science collects sufficient data, would be education, maybe combined with electroshock therapy. :boxing:

The question is why do you care? Stop posting on this message board and go take care of your fellow man.

I attended a Jesuit school and it only took another 35 years to get over it. See, no problem.

As soon as religious people stop imposing their faith on everyone else by voting...
