I think it's particularly insulting that at a time where even a top tier PhD student in abstract mathematics or philosophy has no way of ever getting a university postion, universities still pay people full time to peddle PC garbage.

Liberals often pretend to be intellectuals, but cases like this clearly show that this is just posturing. Otherwise they'd be just as mad that universities are wasting their resources like that.

 

Before we thrown too many stones at the language-changers, let us recall "Freedom Fries", an attempt to punish the French for declining to join us in our happy attempt to bring liberal democracy to Iraq. But that was an aberration.

I'm entirely on the side of people who are alarmed/amused by this 1984 attempt to criminalize language. It's a shame to see genuine liberals caving in to the maniacs. It's not just what is happening now, but the direction of motion. To come: fines and loss of employment for people who use politically-incorrect terms.

Here's another prediction: the requirement to study English in school will, at some point in the future, be challenged, and successfully challenged, by leftists, probably in California, the same state where they are now painting over a mural in a school because it features politically-incorrect scenes from America's past. (And the wonderful irony is, it was painted by a communist.)

I'm not a conspiracy theorist but if I were ... I would say that with the big economic problems America (the country north of Mexico and south of Canada I mean, in case anyone is confused) is facing, and with its dangerous Cold-War-II foreign policy ... in light of the obvious willingness of the Republican base to embrace a man who appeared ['appeared' is the operative word here] to challenge Republican orthodoxy on these issues ... whose interests are being served by all the current gratuitous Politically Correct craziness, which will drive ordinary working class Americans away from considering things like a national minimum wage increase, a Marshall Plan for our own country, a re-think of our posture as policeman of the world?

It reminds me of the stupidity of abandoning 'black," a single syllable descriptive word for "African American," a seven syllable term that describes nothing. I know a man whose parents immigrated from South Africa. He is white yet he is an African American by that standard.

Ironically, when you ask a Peruvian where they are from, they don't say "South America". They say "I'm from Peru." We are the only nation that has America in their name and everyone in the known world calls people from the United States "American". But the narrative is well established that liberals are working REALLY hard to destroy everything that was once America and made this nation great. Making the word "American" a dirty word is merely a stepping stone to their end game..

 

I'm offended by the name John Smith. It reminds me of that movie Pocahontas, and just brings up bad memories of evil white people.

I've tried to think of an appropriate politically-correct name, and some funny ones have come to mind ... but I am afraid to put them down, because what is just comic exaggeration today -- "Oh come on, they'd NEVER do THAT..." -- seems to become frowning PC reality tomorrow.
