Not at all. But it does give degenerates of color a big advantage.

Black family gets falsely accused of stealing a basket ball and its a national crisis.
White family gets accused of stealing a basket ball and they say "no i didn't, here's my receipt", and they move on with their lives and don't cry about it.
Maybe some groups of people should learn how to handle simple situations and not cry racism over everything.

The accusation is racial profiling... not racism.... the second is obviously not against the law.

Two of the circumstances seem to be:

    1. They made a video (not just a single pic) of the boy running around the store with the ball
    2. The article says they waved goodbye to some employees.

Both are indicative of lack of shoplifting motive...

They can prove they weren't stealing.... the manager needs to show she had 'probable cause' to pursue them down the street for 'several blocks' - I suspect she cannot if she's already been fired... Nike wouldn't immediately terminate somebody if she could reasonably make that case.

This kind of thing is getting our society nowhere. It is causing more problems. It is time for folks fo grow up and stop screaming racism with zero proof.

Not at all. Without seeing the video who knows what really went on.

Nike fired the manager because they do not want bad publicity. What is firing one manager compared to nonstop bad press from the lefty media?

Did firing the manager stop the "bad" press??

Yes. The headline "Nike fires racist manager" is much better than "Nike refuses to fire racist manager".

LOL... the fact that you have "Nike" and "racist manager" in both headlines is all most people will care about...

Why don't you ask Nike how firing the manager has worked to their benefit so far??

But yes, I get your point....

Firing the manager makes the story go away.

This post is the perfect insight into the mind of a Democrat. I say "people" - and for your benefit Carlos, I highlighted the word so that you may more easily find it - and a self-admitted Democrat thinks it's about - well, Democrats.

But if you MUST have examples of Democrats that do nothing but talk about race, I guess we could go with Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and - hmmm - well, I suppose we could find a poster on this very thread who does nothing but talk all the time about race if we looked hard enough.

Fine, we all know that some people not only talk about race but do something to improve racial relationships. I previously pointed out the OP's own quote from Martin Luther King in 1956 where he hadn't decided if he was going to vote for a Republican. That was in the day when the GOP actually embraced civil rights. How things have changed.

Ahhhh go read again, the receipt was only shown after the police got there. He and the family walked off and walked for several blocks with the manager asking. And yes you walkout a store can ask to see your receipt there is no law saying they cannot ask to see it.

Doesn't seem to be the case, since firing the manager is mentioned in the first story I read about it...

There isn't a law that say you need to show the receipt. Had the dimwit manager asked her cashiers about it, she would have known better, but we all know she was too stupid to do so.

That's very true, and the first thing I thought about as well, but she's certainly entitled to ask within some reasonable distance on the outside of the doors to the store as well....

I don't know the layout of the store, but there could be multiple checkout locations (perhaps on multiple floors?)

Following for "several blocks" is ridiculous... But the buyers would have been smart to pull out the receipt anyway, then report it to the company...

I'm sure Nike would have preferred their manager to stay in the busy store rather than walking blocks away. Surveillance cameras would show that the basketball was purchased or note. Maybe store employees could wear cameras as the cops have. I've never seen merchants following people for blocks in pursuit of customers. Why didn't the manager merely do a selfie at the store door to show management.

I agree with all of that. Did something I post indicate otherwise?

The manager was wrong in profiling without any reported probable cause then following them off of the store property...

But I also think a manager is entitled to ask to see a receipt at or near the front doors of the store with cause...

Why would the manager take a selfie? You mean a pic of the people walking away with the ball??

Was the manager standing by the door checking every single receipt or not? If not what gives her cause to follow these people for blocks just to ask for a receipt? If I saw a white family gone through with no harrassment but when it is my turn and I'm a minority what am I supposed to think?

Nope, and the defenders don't want to acknowledge that. They just want to play the "I've been asked for my receipt before and I'm white" card. Notice the others they waved goodbye to didn't accuse them of anything.

I agree with all of that.... I'm also waiting to see what "cause" she's going to come up with. My guess is she already tried something that didn't pass muster, which is part of the reason she got fired...

You are supposed to think you are being profiled, which is likely what happened here. As I've previously posted, the shoppers took a video of their boy with the ball and the article says they waved at employees while leaving, both of which counters a possible claim they were acting suspiciously...

All that being said, I personally would have pulled out my receipt the first time confronted outside the store, profiling or not, then go right back in and return the ball and file a complaint (with a different manager)...

    Quick aside but relevant point.

Kobe Bryant is on "Ridiculousness' [MTV] looking at funny videos and laughing. That is the "real America" most of us know and expect. Republicans seem to turn us all in the wrong direction as a nation.
