Assault rifles are designed to kill lots of people quickly. They were designed for war and not for the general public. Outlaw them. I know that there are a lot of guns among the population, outlaw ammunition. We should also have a buyback program.

I hate to say it, but what you are proposing won't work because of the definition of assault rifles. What are they exactly? Also, the buyback program won't work because the prices that are offered are asinine. I want some sorts of sensible gun control, but I'm not sure how to approach it.

Sooner or later its gonna happen to someone we all know, someone we love, and at that point people have to ask themselves if they love the person or the gun more. Even if not directly a close call, like deciding not to go to your favorite restaurant this week like you always do on that day of the week and then a shooting happens there and you get lucky.

Hopefully the supreme court will rule that victims families can sue the manufactures, then maybe they will stop making guns designed for nothing more than mass shootings.

As someone who missed ending up at a shooting event because we decided not to go to the food court that day for some reason, years ago, and that the Las Vegas shooter only stopped his plans to shoot up the concert area my older brother was attending due to issues getting booked with the hotel, I have the right to say, we need some dam gun control

I don't think that any of them were taking meds. Quite a few of them should have been.

No military would use what the general public calls an assault weapon. They are semi-automatic which means they fire one round with one trigger pull. . Most military weapons are select fire. Meaning you can select to fire one round with one trigger pull, a given number of round with one trigger pull or continuous fire with one trigger pull.

They are good for hunting because they are light weight, compact and accurate.

    Oh brother

They're not only weapons of war, but clearly the overwhelming weapons of choice for right-wing Murican cowards and terrorists who commit mass murder.

    Oh brother

So if a woman who's a few weeks pregnant dies in a car crash the "individual being with unique DNA" will have no trouble surviving and thriving, right?

By the way, since you're so concerned with 'individual beings with unique DNA', you surely must have a house-full of adopted kids, right?

Not necessarily true and sweeping over generalization. In the wrong hands, they suck.

Nothing more than a facetious and empty appeal to emotion.

No such legal standard pertaining to liability will ever come to pass, either in the united states, or in any other nation on the planet. For such a standard to be implemented, it would have to apply to all commercially produced goods and products on the market, and apply to all manufacturers equally. Companies like Toyota and Budweiser would be responsible whenever their products are misused in crimes, even if they were acquired illegally. There would be incentive for anyone to ever produce a product for sale to the public again.

As a citizen of the united states, you possess a first amendment right to express your beliefs and ideals in a manner seen fit by yourself. However, you are devoid of a constitutional right to have your message heard, accepted, or placed beyond the scope of ridicule by those who actually know more on the subject than yourself.

The legal standard that can be and should be set is, if the product being used as designed hurts or kills someone the people making said product are liable. Simple as that, the Connecticut supreme court stated 4-3 that SandyHook parents could sue. The supreme court has decided to take up that case.

A gun is designed to shoot a projectile that has the capacity to kill and is designed to.

This would also make Cig companies liable and Liquor companies liable for drunk driving deaths.

So you would not have been wishing if you were in the LV shooting that the rights of that individual to buy a gun had been removed?

The obvious question of "so what?" must be asked with regard to the above. What ultimate, meaningful difference does such actually make?

The united state supreme court has already ruled that firearms, regardless of type, are protected for private ownership and use by the second amendment of the united states constitution. They cannot be restricted simply because they are deadly weapons.

Do firearm manufacturers design their product to be used in the commission of a mass killing? Do they advertise how well suited their products are for use in committing murder?

Cite where the united state supreme court has agreed to take up the case.

Then why are so many firearm-related injuries ultimately non-fatal, if firearms are supposedly designed to be used for killing others?

Which would ultimately discourage anyone from engaging in the production of commercial products for sale to the public. Where would the world ultimately be then?

Would such have proven sufficient to physically prevent the individual from acquiring firearms?

Hundreds of thousands of individuals in the united states have lost their second amendment rights due to convictions for felony offenses, and yet none of the firearm-related restrictions in place, not even those in the state of California, are serving to physically prevent them from acquiring firearms.

Countries without castle doctrine or huge access to guns are far safer than the US, Japan has under 400 homicides a year, CA/EU/AU/NZ all have a 1.0 homicide rate, SK and Japan 0.3. US 4.5 So defending ones self is more effective in gun control/ban nations.
Yep 1K-3K people shot/killed each year by US police. Meanwhile in the UK, only 52 deaths in 100 years 50 of which were IRA members, and UK police do not carry guns.
This is legit, but one does not need a semi auto for such things enfact it is worse for hunting and makes the meat inedible
If we had laws like in Canada where you can not have it loaded off a range, then semi agree, but again semi autos for target practice seriously?

You can use a non lethal air pistol for target shooting, for hunting a single shot rifle like what was available when our forefathers wrote the second amendment. The military and the police need a weapon to if necessary defend themselves,if we did not have over 300 million weapons in the hands of Americans you would have no need for one for self defense.

Makes the meat inedible? A bullet is a bullet whether it comes from a semi-automatic of a bolt action.

They don't advertise how great they are for killing other humans but they do advertise their high mag capacity and other such features, they even make them pink to attract young girls to shoot, aka trying to get a kid to think its a toy.
    https://townhall.com/tipsheet/bethb...e-that-could-hold-the-fate-of-the-2a-n2551132

They were asked to by the right, miss read that.
Because they get lucky, non fatal does not mean they are not handycapped from it. I am sure its no walk in the part from the 88K people who are injured but survive a shooting.
Nope, for instance a car, is designed to get you from point A to point B, so if someone intentionally kills someone with a car its their fault not the car. Only products that used as intended create in emanate threat to either the user or someone else.
Yes actually, just look at Hawaii, they have successful gun control or you know canada.

Australia defined it by NOT defining it

    https://www.gunpolicy.org/firearms/citation/quotes/2582

There is other legislation detailing the rate of fire. If you set these limits it negates the endless arguments that the pro gun lobby come out with in relation to what is and is not an “assault weapon”

But being a semi-automatic does not make that happen any more than a bolt action or a muzzle loader.

If your first shot did not bring down the game, chances are all the rest of your shots will easily also miss.
