I know very well what a socialist country but Based on your comments I was concerned that you may have been applying an errant definition.

 

Socialism is illogical, inefficient, and runs counter to human nature.

 

Nazis were referring to the socialization of their nationalism not their economy. Nazis did not confiscate businesses they did not take away the profits of businesses they let business profit during Nazism.

 

I am indeed loving the fact that we are going back to the moon. I also am sad that I will not be alive when we start the first colony on Mars.

I a child of the 1950's and the Cold War and a child of people who had lived for a while under Soviet occupation was obviously angry as hell that the Soviets launched their Sputnik before we achieved an orbit level device. My mom being more of a an Eastern European conspiracy thinker was convinced that Krushchov was spying on us with his Sputnik. She nwas seer because we had spy satellites soon after. My dad the practical man but loved sarcasm and irony said that "our Nazis beat their Nazis " into orbit in direct reference to Von Braun and the gang of Nazi scientists. The Soviets obviously grabbed their share of Nazi scientists.

Interesting that you ask about my thoughts about 50 years ago when we landed on the Moon. I was arrived at my "permanent" military hospital closest to home after a month and a half in various hospitals from Vietnam, Japan, Walter Reed. The staff at Chelsea Naval were great in that they wheeled a tv into our ward and since most of us were in wheelchairs or in beds they moved beds and chairs to the tv so we could see.

I was ecstatic that we beat the Soviets and their Nazis scientists to the moon. I was very very conscious of the war of technology that the Soviets were waging against us. Of course hating anything Soviet or you know who is in my DNA. Funny but in eight grade English class I was made fun of by the English teacher for writing a story about a military outpost on the moon. The teacher was very very old so simple math tells me that the pompous AH was born in the late 19th century.

Anyway humans are destined to explore space and colonize out there it is in our DNA.

Sweden is not socialist nor does it have a socialist economy. It's heavily taxed and redistributes wealth but Sweden is very capitalist, energetically.

 

Sweden is the closest deal that I think of for a democratic socialist country. Wealth redistribution is considered socialist. Even Nicaragua a scxhiest hole country is not 100 percent socialist country.

 

Sweden isn't socialist it has a free market economy. One might call it compassionate capitalism or a welfare state but it isn't even close to being socialist. The Swedish government doesn't own or control the means of production. It's more hands off than perhaps the US. Sweden doesn't have a minimum wage, it's left to the market. Sweden universally uses school vouchers that are used in for profit schools.

Sweden is capitalist with high taxes and expanded benefits.

If socialists make sense, perhaps America isn't the place for you. Socialism is not compatible with the Constitution in any way shape or form…
