Again, how exactly would you propose removing tens if not hundreds of millions of such firearms from circulation, if the public simply refuses to comply, due to understanding that there is simply not enough manpower to force a confiscation effort across the united states?

Simply put, what is the united states federal government supposed to do when it issues an order, and an approximate third of the entire nation issues a response of "never" or "make us" in response? It is already outnumbered at a rate of more than one hundred to one. What hope does it have when noncompliance is widespread?

Such firearms utilize more or less every modern caliber in existence. Such a proposal would be entirely impossible without essentially shutting down the entire firearms industry in the united states, which would have far-reaching financial consequences for the entire nation.

You can't waltz into your local Wal Mart or Bass Pro Shop and purchase a military issue M4 carbine or M16A2 rifle.

As I pointed out, the closest thing to a REAL weapon of war you can easily obtain are the civilian versions of an M870 shotgun.

 

Yeah maybe. I always imagine that the modern progressive sees themselves as the freedom fighter of the days past. Like they look at the black and white photos of civil rights stuff in the 1950's with the dogs and fire hoses and screaming crowds an they think of themselves as that black guy in the photo. They don't realize they have become the screaming irrational mob seething with hate, in that photo.

Yeah there definitely seems to be a bit of that citizen militia bit. But if you were considering this as a good plan, wouldn't the fact that it makes your group more of a target and the target group less of a target make it seem like a bad plan, from a purely pragmatic standpoint. Unless you were using the tactic of acceleration. Make the other side play their hand before they are ready. I dunno. Interesting take.

I bet if you had a heat map of poverty and a heat map of IQ, there might be some might upset people out there. This seems to be the most reliable metric for estimating poverty, criminality, and future success. So actually you could say that having the intelligence and personality of a criminal makes you poor, rather than the other way around.
Look at poor people who win the lottery or become one hit wonders. They are usually poor again very shortly because they have the mentality of poverty. Being rich did not make them better people. Look at Rich people who become poor, bankrupt business men don't go on drive bys and such. Taking an otherwise reasonable person and making them poor, does not make them act like the other poor in this country.

Care to elaborate? You responded to several sentences, so what specifically do you have a problem with? And if you are just going to be lazy and say "all of it" or some other uninformed nonsense don't waste either of our time.
I challenge you to find an example of someone with a high IQ, raised in a good home, turning to gang banging or other low class crime after becoming poor. Look at pro athletes or other get rich quick people on the other hand. They make millions, but still beat their girlfriends and host dog fights like low class people. The money doesn't make you smart or dumb, being smart or dumb is a good predictor of how much money you will have.

 

It's not intelligence, either. Have you not met high IQ halfwits? Those who spend their dissolute lives in quasi-poverty because they're an artist/musician/poet/activist/sociologist, or some other work avoider? I've met too many.

I think, if you are going to hijack or bomb and aircraft, a boxcutter won't be the weapon of choice, but I really don't know for certain.
