Thank you captain obvious. Choosing drugs/alcohol/sniffing glue, etc is a problem. How is that war on drugs working out? Its great for the cartels, gangs, prison for profit, pharm industry, etc., but doesn't appear to be solving/reducing the problem. Up next, the war on guns!

Well clearly it wasn't obvious to you, since you didn't even mention it. Instead you talked about the after effects of such a terrible choice .. as though the terrible choice had nothing to do with it.

And the reason the problem is not yet solved is because those with an interest in keeping certain people drugged and in trouble, do exactly what you did. Pretend it has nothing to do with terrible personal choices. Make it all the fault of some external faceless behemoth.

What a twisted, contorted pile of garbage. It's debatable how much drug use would rise if it were legalized. What's not debatable is the complete failure and sheer wastefulness of the "drug war".
The victims and destruction caused by this senseless war far outweigh any social benefit. It's not even f***ing close!

 

China once had a drug problem that destroyed their society and they solved it not through legalization, but through harsher penalties. Executions included. Fear is a great motivator.

I already agreed that it is a bad choice, No one is arguing otherwise. Who benefits from the war on drugs besides cartels, gangs, pharm companies, the government, and prison for profit?

 

Society, which should be the ultimate metric, is not benefiting.

Why does anyone give a flying f*ck if someone wants to smoke a plant that makes them happy? Who are you to decide that people can't do that? What gives you the right to decide? What about the rights of the individual to do as they please as long as they're not hurting anyone? Conservatives get their panties in a bunch anytime their perceived rights are trampled on, but have no problem trampling on the rights of other for doing things of which they disapprove. In my book that is borderline treason because it flies in the face of the Constitution that guarantees the right of every American to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.

 

And the flipside of that is that the non-dopeheads shouldn't have to interact with stoned losers sharing our roads/be around disease carriers much like rats/have to pay for aforesaid loser's welfare because they can't pass a piss test so they can't operate machinery/get a job.....I could go on and on.
