After the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency raided multiple Mississippi food processing plants for hiring illegal alien workers, President Trump’s support among Hispanic voters has remained solid and a record total of black Americans now support him.

Last week, ICE agents conducted the largest workplace raid in more than a decade across seven food processing plants in Mississippi, netting the arrests of 680 illegal aliens. That same day, though, ICE officials said they released about 300 of the illegal workers back into the U.S. on “humanitarian grounds.” More than 200 of the illegal workers had prior criminal records.

There are some learning opportunities here for elected democrats, RINO's, and the left.

Americans respect the laws of our land.

This respect of our nations laws and our borders is what Americans want.

I fail to see why anyone would be against the ICE raids.

It’s cute how y’all quote polls that you agree with and completely ignore ones you don’t, even when they are from the same sources.

There is a word for that, a few of them actually

Whats cute is that there are any polls at all. Catapulting criminals back across the border is our right and our duty. Enforcement of the law is not subject to 'emotions' and 'feels'.

Yet, there are still morons out there who think Dems want open borders in order to win Hispanic votes!

(besides that Dems absolutely don't want open borders and aliens can't vote)

If you cross the border illegally or knowingly overstay a visa, you are a criminal.

You can find other things that are criminal, too.

What I pointed out was something that is NOT criminal.

Actions like working to create the bipartisan immigration bill of 2013 that passed the Senate and would have pased the Republican majority House had Speaker Boehner not blocked it?

    Actions like Obama's deportation record?

You need to substantiate your claims.

I can understand why. Its a matter of perspective and perspective is often the product of heavy influence. Many opponents to ICE and immigration enforcement in general see only the human component (and sometimes proponents fail to recognize this as well). Do raids and deportations have impacts on families and human lives? Yes they do. But are these consequences just and do they typically come after a long process of review with allowance for remediation? Arguably also yes.

Someone who's perspective is born from a saturation of narratives that focus on only broken homes and crying children and other unfortunate outcomes probably isn't considering the whole truth of immigration enforcement. They may not consider the fact that we don't just go door to door rounding up non-citizens and deciding on the spot that they'll be removed. Just the other week there was a thread about man who was deported to Iran. This man had originally come to the US as a lawful refugee (or something) with two parents and a few siblings and lived here for 40 years before being deported back to Iran where he later died as a result of medical complications. As terrible as that is if one doesn't look at the entire story they would come away thinking that this was a heartless act done without justification. But if one had all the information then they would know that this man had spent his 40 years living a life of crime and ignoring the many many opportunities he had to become naturalized such as his parents and siblings had done.

In the age of selective reporting and manufactured outrage there are a number of people who don't hear the whole story on things like this and so its understandable that they have negative opinions towards immigration enforcement. And to be fair the inverse to this is that pro-enforcement folks who themselves may not be considering the whole story may not appreciate that the human component is also there.

    No city as been sanctified.

How we treat undocumented aliens is a separate and important issue. Today, ICE has taken a unbelievably horrible direction which deserves to be resisted.

I subscribe to the bipartisan bill of 2013. I don't see it as perfect, but t includes SEVERAL simultaneous actions oriented to further closing our borders (including $40B for the sourthern border, fixing and requiring e-verify which is why they come, and tightening our visa system).

Perhaps you can enlighten me then on what the difference is, unless of course you're trying to argue semantics, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.

Being here wihout documentation is a civil violation. And, that's the way WE want it.

Think about it. If it were criminal, every one of those rounded up could demand the rights given criminal defendants - a lawyer, rules of evidence, rights of appeal, rights to speedy trial, etc., etc. Who even knows what would come out of the penalties phase. And, we don't have even a fraction of the criminal court time to give a speedy trial for that many criminal cases.

Since it is civil, deportations can be handled far faster and easier.

I don't believe San Francisco believes it has been sanctified.

Sorry - I was just riffing on that.
