You hit the nail on the head, Seth. Applies to all the Trump haters. Might be more understandable if they had a legitimate reason to hate him, but they run on nothing but pure emotion. Fact is, America is doing great.

You lie, Sandy. That statement is a perfect example of why people have learned that you are not a legitimate partner in a discussion. You know that I have engaged you in lengthy discussions in the past. You know this! And yet you assert that I have "lost" an argument. No, Sandy, I haven't ever "lost" a debate with you. I have disagreed with you. But because I disagree with you, you say I lost an argument. What I have learned is that your mind is absolutely closed.

Sandy, you don't hate Trump's policies. You hate Trump's policies because he is Trump. That is your hate guiding you.

As always, your solution to any conflict with any nation in the world, whether it be a military conflict or an economic one, is surrender. Declare defeat and simply surrender. I'm sure glad you weren't in charge when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor.

I have already told you this, but I will tell you one last time ...

Short term investors and day traders are the big gamblers. They make money on short term rises in the stock market, and they lose (sometimes they lose big) on downturns in the market.

But long term investors - like people saving for retirement - people who invest a certain amount every month - don't care about the temporary downturns. They know that, historically, the average yearly gain over decades is about 12% per year. And when the stock market loses value, their monthly investment buys more stock than it did before the downturn. So, when the market bounces back, the value of their holdings rises exponentially because they own more stock than they would have without the downturn. For the long term investor, a downturn is actually good for that very reason.

Sandy, this is the nature of long term investing in the market. There will be up times and there will be down times.

But what is important is what the return is over the long term - over the span of a person's working life - decades. And that amount is around 12% per year on average of those years and decades.

The smart investor starts young and then gets out at a high point in the market roughly 5 years before they plan to retire. For example, if a person is 60 years old, and they plan to retire at 65, they should have already moved their assets out of the stock market into safe investments. They don't earn as much, but they don't lose as much either.

The short term rises and declines in the market are affected by interest rates, politics, wars, tax policy, inflation, employment numbers, etc, etc, etc. So right now the market is affected by the economic conflict with China. But, at some point in the future, that conflict is going to be resolved one way or the other, and the market will react well to that news. This situation of economic conflict with China is temporary, Sandy. Resolution will come about. It's just a question of when. And when it does, people who have just "stayed the course" are going to see big gains.

It is important for our nation that we have fair trade with China. They use the equivalent of slave labor to produce goods cheaply. They have suicide nets inside and outside of their factories. There are no worker rights or protections like we have. Nobody in this country should be proud of the fact that we get cheap **** made by virtual slaves. In the 1860s this country outlawed slavery, and now, in the present, we welcome and finance slavery. This is nothing to be proud of. We should not allow a slave labor country like China to maintain such a massive trade surplus against us as they do. We have lost tens of thousands, perhaps hundreds of thousands, of manufacturing jobs to these Asian countries (China isn't the only one) who employ these slave labor practices. At the very least, we should expect China to have a fair balance of trade with us.

But, of course, you would rather just surrender as usual. End all tariffs. Don't fight for equity in trade. Just go back to the status quo.

Because, Trump.

Same thing the plantation owners in the South wanted. The status quo.

That's what you want, right Sandy?

She wont lose to Donald. Unfortunately she wont get the nod from the DNC and their voters. But if she pulled a miracle and was the Democrats candidate, she would destroy baby donny in the debates. Tulsi would make him her bitch.

I never agree with you on anything. We are on opposite sides of the political divide. I plan to vote for Trump in 2020.

But, if he were to be defeated by a Democrat, I would want that Democrat to be Tulsi Gabbard. I have a lot of respect for her, her intelligence, her experience, and her independence. I also think she would be a formidable opponent to Trump.

And I also think that the Democrats are dumb to be supporting the front runners they support - Joe, Bernie, Pocahantas, and Kamela. Tulsi outclasses all of them.

 

Too bad the Dems are giving her the Bernie Sanders treatment. Maybe she'll wise up and run Rep in 2024.

On August 1, Trump announced a 10% tariff on $300B of Chinese goods popular with the American consumer. That week was the worst week of 2019 on Wall Street. The following Monday, August 5, was, at the time, the worst day of 2019.

Things were getting so bad, on August 13, Trump backed off on the 10% tariff. Stocks rebounded, but not for long. On August 14, the Dow lost over 800 points and that became the new worst day for 2019.

As everyone can plainly see, all that took place within two weeks, and every bit of it was caused by Trump's trade war with China and his harsh tariffs, whether they became real or not.

This didn't stop Trump from lying through his teeth about who was responsible. He talks only to his base, and his gullible base believes every word of it.

Denying the reality of the economic setbacks on Wall Street, Trump said, "Our Economy is very strong." Then he immediately changed his tune and hinted at a recession, blaming the Fed for "horrendous lack of vision by Jay Powell and the Fed."

Then he blamed the Democrats. He said, "the Democrats are trying to 'will' the Economy to be bad for purposes of the 2020 Election." He was lying, offering no evidence to support that claim. He just made it up.

While he was at it, Trump then blamed the media. “The Fake News Media is doing everything they can to crash the economy because they think that will be bad for me and my re-election,” Trump tweeted. He made that up, too.

But, if "Our Economy is very strong" what is Trump talking about? I doubt he knows.

Insisting that the world is against him, Trump blames Google for voter fraud.

Trump's supporters are not fans of reality. His support is cult-like. It is not based on realism or politics, and his rallies are evangelistic, not political in nature. The chants resemble religious fervor, not rational behavior.

What kind of a political supporter yells out "send her back," referring to a member of Congress? Answer: it is religious chorus, cult-like, not political.

Hence the cartoons as opposed to supporting arguments. They never defend Trump. They just send more cartoons.

This explains a lot. Many of Trump's diehard supporters are members of a cult.
