Before I answer your question I think it's important to put Trump's comment in context, something you failed to do because of your name . . .
WASHINGTON — President Trump said Wednesday he favors taking guns away from people who might commit violence before going through legal due process in the courts, one of many startling comments he made in a rambling White House meeting designed to hash out school safety legislation with a bipartisan group of lawmakers.

The part I underlined would have scared the hell out of you if any other President had said it. The President wants to take stuff from Americans before going through legal due process??? WHAT???? And you were OK with that???

No, you weren't, and it didn't freak you out because you were thinking the same thing we all were: Trump is talking out his ass. Again.

Like a lot of people, I had hopes Trump would "grow" into the Presidency. I knew the odds were slim, but I thought the Office might change him. I was being naive.

When Trump stood in front of that memorial to slain intelligence officers and talked about his crowd-size, I knew we were in for a rough time. Leaders (good ones) simply don't do such things. It's contemptible. Would Bush have ever done that? Reagan? Ike? Truman? Ford? Of course not.

I tend to agree.Trump spends way too much time bragging.
I don't know where or how he learned it but in my mind it's a huge
turnoff. It makes him small. He needs counseling about this aspect of his
persona.Real men don't need to constantly remind others how great
they are.Guys like Rush Limbaugh are partly to blame.Because it's
a Fat Cat mentality.I don't wanna hear how much in love with the
hoi polloi Limbaugh is.He ain't no Will Rogers.Limbaugh lives to surround
himself in the finest life has to offer.Best of everything.
I can't see Limbaugh hanging around normal people and having
lunch or dinner. He won't even go shopping he's such a snob.
I like Limbaugh but he's a practiced hypocrite. He does not vacation,
have dinner or play golf with regular americans.
Nor does he do normal stuff like regular americans. He's totally
above being a regular American.yet that's all he preaches 5 days
    a week.

Happens all the time. You are suspected of a crime you go to jail and lose your freedom though you may be innocent. Later in a court of law you get your legal due process.

There is due process involved with being arrested and jailed pending trial.

The point you should be making is that asset forfeiture (where the police accuse your STUFF of being in a crime and just take it) is a gross violation of due process, and people on both sides have been trying to get that changed.

The point I was making was that there is a difference between Trump musing about taking our GUNS without due process (over my dead body), and any other President doing the same. Any other President would have been scandalized for the rest of his term. Trump got away with it because he's an idiot.

Tucker Carlson, to his credit, gave Trump a tongue-lashing on his show about it that night, but then it was quickly forgotten.
