Just because you think of money in your pocket as the only priority, doesn't mean that other people would have to think the same way. There are people who do not care about the amount of taxes they pay if they already have a life of riches that even Kings could not have dreamed of 500 years ago. In fact, many think that those taxes are a small price to pay for living in a civilized, safe and prosperous society.

 

Saying one is better than another doesn't support either one.

This country was founded on libertarianism.
Each man nearly an autonomous self ruler and self provider. It worked spectacularly until big government started getting involved.

The environment if all screwed up. In spite of all our environmental laws.
I lived my whole life in the Pacific Northwest and am an avid/professional sport angler.
Oregon and Washington for the last 40 years have been heavily regulation everything about salmon and their habitat. We've spent many billions of dollars, restored habitat, destroyed industries and given tens of thousands deep hardship trying to save salmon runs.. all of it has failed and salmon runs are at an all time low, many are extinct and most of the rest care ESA listed as threatened or endangered..
Our environmental laws do damn little good.

Who is starving you out? Anyone holding you at gunpoint, demanding you buy their products? No. You have the power to decide how you will live, where you live, what you will buy. Closest thing to someone forcing you is government, taking your money by force of law, and giving you damn little in return. Give the government power to get more power, and they will- and soon you will find you have no power at all. Then you WILL be starved out, because you won't have any choices left.
