My Wal-Mart looks at receipts for the majority of people that have things in their cart that aren't bagged--white, black, Asian or Hispanic. They look at all of us as potential thieves.

The link you provided does not give any detail regarding the study the article refers to. So the "data" you refer to wouldn't sway me since there was no explanation of how the failure rate was actually determined. In other words, how do we know it's even true?

That's just who they are as people, they can't run from that. And plus that's not the extent of white privilege, though I'm sure tweeting it obviously will not get that.

 

I am pretty darn sure I have more Native American in my genes than Elizabeth Warren does and there is no way I would even be tempted to list Native American on any kind of professional credentials or anything else because I am in no way Native American.

Kamala Harris is presumably half Asian Indian, half black Jamaican--that part of her ancestry qualifies her for slave reparations if she ever got that passed as her family is reported to have owned slaves--but she lists herself as African American. Is she ashamed of her Asian and Jamaican heritage?

Beto is indeed Irish American without a drop of Hispanic blood so far as we know, but that didn't keep him from identifying with and allowing and not correcting a misconception that he is Hispanic.

But in all cases, the point is that if being white offers privilege, why is it that all of them want to be something they are not and/or identified with a minority group?

 

why did Trump pretend to be Swedish? did he think if people knew he was German the Jews would not rent from him?

There has never been a government contract that gave preference to white people over non-white.
I've never heard of the Equal Opportunity Employment Commission coming to the defense of a white person.

I've also been discriminated for not being catholic, for not being religious, for not being a mason, for being too tall, for not being tall enough, for not having a college degree when the woman who had been amazed by my knowledge found out I was self-educated...... but those don't matter because they are not products of government.

 

Trump's family is not Trump and he, like a lot of us, probably believed what he had been told. My family told me that I was of French heritage on my father's side and I believed that for decades. When I got interested in genealogy myself, however, and researched that, I have very little French heritage but on my father's side descended most likely from German Jews which would have been horrifying to my snooty, pretentious paternal family. I rather liked the idea.

My daughter was once working as research assistant for an orthodox Jewish family and got interested in that culture. She sent us a Happy Hannukah card that year with the inscription that we should have had at least one Jewish kid. As it turned out, maybe we did.
