Another mass shooting deserves a better answer.

    As was the firearm used in the Sandy Hook incident. However the state of Connecticut did possess its own local prohibition on so-called "assault weapons" at the time. Yet the AR-15 that was used was legally registered with the state, thus making it an AR-15 that was made to comply with the state prohibition and thus was not a so-called "assault weapon" as defined by law.

    That matter aside, firearms such as the AR-15 are used in only a statistically minute number of firearm-related offenses in the united states. Even when they are used in the commission of mass killings, the resulting deaths for each year will still pale in comparison to the number of deaths that come from the criminal misuse of handguns throughout the nation.

    When added up, all of the deaths in the united states that can be attributed to the criminal misuse of firearms such as the AR-15, still would not equal the number of firearm-related homicides in the city of Chicago in a given year.

    From your own citation:

    "The definition of an assault weapon includes any semiautomatic centerfire rifle that can accept a detachable magazine (one that can be removed without disassembling the firearm action) and has at least one of the following features:

    1. a folding or telescoping stock;

    2. a grip, such as a pistol grip, a thumbhole stock, or other stock, the use of which would allow an individual to grip the weapon, resulting in any finger on the trigger hand in addition to the trigger finger being directly below any portion of the action of the weapon when firing;

    3. a forward pistol grip;

    4. a flash suppressor; or

    5. a grenade launcher or flare launcher."

    All of which are purely cosmetic features, that do nothing to affect the functionality of the firearm.

    Then there is this particular passage:

    "The definition of an assault weapon also includes any semiautomatic pistol that has the ability to accept a detachable magazine and has at least one of the following features:

    1. the ability to accept a detachable ammunition magazine that attaches at some location outside of the pistol grip;

    2. a threaded barrel capable of accepting a flash suppressor, forward pistol grip, or silencer;

    3. a shroud attached to, or that partially or completely encircles the barrel and permits the shooter to fire the firearm without being burned, except a slide that encloses the barrel; or

    4. a second hand grip."

    As far as the law in question is concerned, a standard, run of the mill handgun, becomes a so-called "assault weapon" if it includes a threaded muzzle.

    Then why is such not ultimately done far more frequently than it is?

    Then explain the nearly fifty percent failure rate of the state of California.

    And how exactly will firearms registration serve to reduce the likelihood of mass shootings being committed? Explain such.

    They have indeed been told such. They are told such every single day, by society itself. They are told that the death of their loved ones is not grounds for completely revamping the firearm-related restrictions of the united states in response. Just as they are told that their own unique type of suffering is no more special or noteworthy than the suffering of anyone else in the world.

    Tracing a firearm through its serial number, to identify who produced it, and which federally licensed firearms dealer it was shipped to, has nothing to do with registering it to any private individual.

    From the ATF relating to the state of California. Forty three out of every one hundred firearms sold within the state of California, in full compliance with all of its firearm-related restrictions, eventually wind up in the possession of prohibited individuals, either through straw purchases, loss, or outright theft. Meaning that all of their registration and licensing requirements are failing in nearly half of all cases of illegal firearm transactions.

    That the position on the part of yourself is not only factually incorrect, but also without anything resembling a legitimate basis.

    One does not need to prove themselves as right, when the only goal is to demonstrate how someone else is wrong.

    Most law enforcement officers do not want career criminals being allowed free in society where they pose the greatest risk of harm. Yet such a desire is not grounds for lifetime sentences for most felony offenses.

    What law enforcement officers do and do not want is not relevant to the discussion, as they do not get to decide what is and is not constitutional. Rather they are required to work within the bounds of what is ultimately the law.

    Such firearms could just as easily have been acquired prior to or during the supposed prohibition on newly produced firearms. The buying, selling, and trading of old, second-hand firearms in the united states is quite common.

    IDK, are you?

    You make a new model, you keep the cosmetics off it. Presto chango.

    Also note: See how the ruger mini 14 is still allowed if it doesn't have a folding stock? Want to know how fast it can fire? Just as fast as the ar 15. Fires the same round. Carries the same amount of bullets.

    I'm referring to the NON-CRIMINAL CITIZENS, son. If they had a CCW, it would have been easy to conceal a HANDGUN, even in summer clothes, don't cha know. Pants and skirts are worn during the summer, don't cha know. And their are shoulder holsters designed to wear inside a shirt or jacket. The OP stands, and you're just blowing all types of smoke to avoid acknowledging that.

    1. Please stop insulting the reader's intelligence, as all can just click back to follow the chronology of the posts. The OP and my subsequent posts were about keeping specific weapons out of the hands of criminals and nut jobs by banning said weapons (i.e. reinstate the 1994 AWB) or treating guns like cars with licensing and registration. Your like minded brethren stated that a "gun free zone" enabled the shooters, and I asked how was that enforced in a state with CCW permission. To date, a lot of dodging and smoke blowing on your part and your compadres, like you tried here.

    Why do you continue to repeat a falsehood that was logically and factually disproven on this thread? Here's the reality check http://www.politicalforum.com/index...-better-answer.559709/page-22#post-1070887142

    And what is your need for such weapons? And why are you against registration of such? Surely, if a strawman for criminals is doing what you propose to do, wouldn't you want law enforcement to be able to make their case faster and stop such?

    And each of those things prints, including the ankle holster, in light weight summer clothing.

    Printing is a fact of life. Don't believe me? Go ask a tailor.

    1. As the chronology of the posts shows, Roo is lying plain and simple. When caught, all he can do is just parrot previously disproven statements. He's got nothing.

    2. Roo again displays intellectual dishonesty, as I never stated he owned anything. He couldn't logically or factually fault my statements or responses, so he bluffs and blusters. As the chronology of the posts shows, Roos condescending attitude initialed my response, not vice versa, so again Roo lies.

    Now Roo has stated TWICE that my posts/threads are not worth responding to or posting on. Let's see if he lives up to that....if so, good riddance. If not, it won't be unexpected.

    Back to square one, with your moot renderings non-withstanding....had the 1994 AWB been in effect, those weapons WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN PURCHASED BY THE SHOOTERS IN EL PASO AND DAYTON. Period.

    Try selling your statistical justifications to the surviving relatives of the victims of AR-15 (style) weapons in the last 20 years. The price for your beliefs are too high....if you give a damn at all.

    Pants cover ankle holsters....whether summer or winter. Unless you do a pat down, security guards rarely look for a slight bulge in ones ankle. That's why detectives (and criminals) have used them as back up pieces for generations. Don't believe me? Put on your socks and shoes and go to your local precinct and ask. The OP stands, and your attempts to disprove it fail every time. Deal with it, because the price of your gun religion is too high in human lives.

    I laugh at how you self proclaimed arm chair experts just deny reality. You keep doubling back to assertions that were already addressed and disproved on this thread. Ya got nothing but bleating a near religious mantra against gun control that unfortunately translates into a body count for us non-believers.

    Thank you for admitting that printing occurs even with ankle holsters. The clothes covering the item and the item still showing through the clothing is called "printing" sport. Go ask your pop about it, ok champ?

    the chronology of the posts makes you out to be a liar....what you can't disprove you just move the goalposts again and again, or you just pretend is not part of the equation. How can one "strut" in a printed medium? Clearly, you're annoyed at how easily you're gunner religious beliefs are deconstructed, but you have nothing but dodges, smoke blowing and repetition to respond.

    Nothing funny about your indifference to human lives for the sake of your child like need for an assault weapon security blanket. Carry on.
