From here: Trump wanting to buy Greenland is yet another sign of Putin’s puppetry - excerpt: In red above - that does not apply to some American presidents. He was not joking! The guy doesn't know the difference between Greenland and Denmark and Botswana. To him, if his friend Putin says there's billions in Greenland's raw-materials he thinks only of the muney-muney-muney ...
Buying Greenland has been on the American agenda since WWII. We will eventually buy it. We bought the Danish West Indies in the middle of WWI in 1917 and renamed then the US Virgin Islands. We will probably rename Greenland when we buy it. We might even buy Denmark.
El crapo, Weird of Gawd. It is an autonomous region of Denmark and you should know better. And as its PM has said, it-aint-for-sale! Just in case, for your edification: Autonomous regions of the Carribean - none of which are for sale ...
As has been pointed out, the concept of buying Greenland isn’t entirely irrational but it is obviously a delicate question that needed approaching in a careful, considered and respectful way. Obviously Trump is incapable of that and jumped in the both feet, then threw his usual temper tantrum when people understandably reacted badly to that. All he has achieved is making it a little less likely Denmark and Greenland would be open to considering some kind of sale or transfer in the future.
Trump wanting [X] is yet another sign of [the innate human ability to find patterns in random noise] Ironically, Trump not wanting to buy Greenland would also be a sign. Trump wears pants? That's definitely a sign. Trump ate breakfast yesterday with his left hand. It's a sign!
The author really failed at making the connection of the desire of buying Greenland to being a puppet of Putin. Basically, he is doing nothing more than saying "he is a puppet because I think he is". The guy that wrote this tripe should find a different career. He is not good at this one.
The author is an idiot.. He does not know this has been discussed multiple times in our countries history.. I feel bad for anyone that agrees or likes the authors work as again its utter ignorance. Perhaps you'd be better off on a Message Board somewhere to vent your crassness? Let's see a poignant counter-argument instead of the patent hate above noted ...
The world in 2019 isn't a game of Risk. And, how TF are we going to pay for it when it is out of the realm of possibilities to pay for healthcare for our citizens according to the Right? I mean, really? You'd buy a chunk of frozen land rather than ensure your citizens don't have to declare bankruptcy over a major health issue? This is the Rights priority? No thanks.
The real puppet in this sad story is Donald Dork. Putin has him by the short-'n-curlies because of the "Pee-Tape". Purported to be footage of the Dork in the same hotel room (where Barack Obama once slept) with nude girls dancing and peeing on the bed. The event happened when Trump was negotiating with the Russians to build a hotel in Moscow. Yes, it is all conjecture. No one has ever seen the pee-tape. But, what we have "seen" happened on the first face-to-face meeting of Trump with Putin in Helsinki, Finland. When Trump asked everyone to leave the room and he had a private five-minute conversation with Putin. I remain convinced that Trump was willing to pull out of the meeting if Putin did no agree to keep the pee-tape private! Yeah, right! He wanted to discuss in private the weather with Putin ... ! PS: Google "Putin" with "pee tape" and see for yourself.
It is part of country called Denmark and it is not "For Sale". Just like a state of the US. When's the last time you saw Alaska "for sale"*? Get it ... ?!? *In fact, we bought Alaska from Russia in 1867 and it cost the American Treasury $7.2M.
Because it is not for-sale. It is state of a country called Denmark. Ever hear of Denmark? Ever hear of the European Union of which Denmark is a state-member? Do you really think that those living in Greenland (56K) want to see atomic weapons on American warplanes in Reykjavik just 3400 kms from Moscow? I seriously doubt it ....
So what? That doesn't mean it can't be purchased; it just means Denmark has decided not to sale at this time. Trump is offering an invitation to negotiate. Denmark can either say no or yes. That doesn't mean Trump isn't allowed to solicit offers. You're probably new to how commerce works. What does that have to do with Greenland?
The Danish PM's remark means that Greenland is not for sale, just like Alaska is not for sale. In fact, most of the Danes took Donald Dork's premise as an insult. How would you feel if Putin said in public that Russia might like to buy Alaska?
I don't know why you're making this complicated with such an asinine question. If you don't want to sell your territory, then don't sell. If the other party is not interested in selling, then either 1) move on or 2) offer better terms until they do sell. Business is not a one way street, it appears to be a new concept to you.
You, your whole proof is a video that nobody has seen and a meeting that nobody heard. Wow, Inspector Clouseau, it sounds like you have this case wrapped up.
