A cash withdrawal of that much would raise red flags, and it would be reported.

Love to incarcerate? Dumb as **** to try putting them in jail. File a civil lawsuit and garnish wages would be the more sensible action here.

Not to mention a jury just might sympathize with the defendants and let them walk.

Do you really have to ask such an obvious question?
Any normal person would have contacted the bank to ask about it before running out to spend it.
If they are too stupid and greedy to do otherwise, then they deserve to be nabbed for theft.

If I found an extra $120K in my bank account, I would check with the bank before I spent any of it. It defies logic that they thought it was theirs. Now, a couple of hundred dollars could be an honest mistake.

Sorry, but I think this falls under "Don't believe everything you read on the internet.....and especially reddit". The guy would have had to invert the money for over a year to make 3% of interest. I see you later said he had it for a year and a half. I find it hard to believe someone would not have reported 200k not being in the account it was suppose to be for 1-1/2 years. Maybe, but not probable.

As I said if either has PRIORS then some jail time, they obviously didn't learn the first time.

More then likely. But it's a great idea if it ever happens to me or you. It was a duplicate wire transfer I guess. But yeah, always take anything one reads on the net with a grain of salt.

    Smart.

I can't see any possibility that after erroneously depositing 200k in your savings account that they can get the accrued interest back as well as the principal.

The question arises - what happens in jurisdictions with negative interest rates? Do you have to pay them back what the bank has taken?

Simply amazing. Something that has absolutely nothing to do with Trump and people STILL have to bring him up...sheesh.

The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. --Ayn Rand

When you live in a time and place where everybody is a criminal, who amongst us glass house dwellers casts the first stone?
