Anti-Trump signs appear at climate change rallies because he's the POTUS, and instead of lustening to the science, he's a denier fully on the side of the fossil fuel industry. That isn't political so much as it is convient to put a face on it, the face of someone in a position to do so much good, but who instead insists on rolling back the regulations of polution already in existence, mostly just because they were Obama's work, and we can't have that, can we?

Chicken or egg ... Trump keeps climate change in the realm of a political issue instead of a human one, because that works for him.

Yeah, but it's not the same as it was back then. I think schools were less concerned with being our parents back the those days.

The schools are powerless to stop them from attending such events.

True but they could punish them for doing so but chose not to while reprimanding the cheer leaders for their pro trump banner.

They really don't have the power to punish them either. The cheerleaders belong to a state organization, and that organization is who did the reprimanding. The whole thing could have been avoided if some of those present had stepped across the street to display their Trump signs. What had been planned as a flag waving event got out of hand. You should have showed up for the flag waving! :)

Schools can't punish kids for walking out of class? Damn, wish I knew that when I was a kid! Wait a minute, now that I think about it you couldn't get out of the gated school without a written pass. They had guards. Apparently now you can if you want to attend a leftist protest I guess

Joseph, Joseph, Joseph...You're just messing with me aren't you? Kid tells parent, principal, and teacher he/she is going to the planned protest in the streets--it's all legal and the school isn't responsible

They tell the schools they are walking out of class and the schools say oh OK. We agree with the leftist protest so you are free to go. Exactly my point. Thank you.

Absolutely! When there are millions of young people supporting a cause ,schools should allow it.You’re just creating a strawman because it isn’t going to happen for one of your tea party causes

    The certajn

When was there an atifa rally?I guess you support the rallies that you were speaking of where they chant about making America white and Jews will not replace us. Let them speak , that’s so good for America. So wonderful that the world is seeing these neo-Nazis rising again

There is something funny about concerns about the environment being a leftist protest.

Yeah I never heard of any government school giving excused absences for students to attend a pro-life rally. Schools were giving excused absences for the climate rally.

Put the guilt where it belongs, on the cheers. They have no 1st amendment free speech rights invested in their volunteer positions.

Blame liberals for what the cheers did?
