If every person pays the same tax rate the question will answer itself

End personal subsidies such as the EITC and tax breaks for any reason and the voters will quickly find the best level

Are you confusing wealth with income?

so every cent a person makes is going to be taxed at the same rate? No exemptions and no deductions? Or are you going to exempt the first X amount of money from taxation?

    That is my plan

$1 to $1 billion at the same level

Of course the tax rate will be small but significant enough to run the government

I assume running the government means having no deficit. So what would that rate be taking current years into account.

So people living paycheck to paycheck just have to miss a few (more) meals so the DeVos family can have their 7th yacht?

    Seems like a great system.

Sure. If everybody pays 10% (for example but TBD) on all assets over 10 times the poverty line. And the same for Corporations... No caps, no taxbreaks, no deductions (maybe a limited amount for charity)... I don't know the pros and cons, but I would consider looking into something similar to that.

I think you'll find if you look into it that you are comparing apples to oranges. The DeVos family isn't taking any food from the tables of poor people. Poor people are poor for many reasons, but not because there are rich people.

The quote I replied to wanted to substantially lower taxes on the wealthy while simultaneously raising them on the poor.

    The point is valid.

As it stands too many poor voters demand ever greater government subsidies that someone else has to pay for

The paycheck-to-paycheck crowd are bankrupting America

No exemptions for anyone at any income level

    And no exemptions of anything

If you tax corporations you are just taxing the consumers of the products that corporations offer

What do you believe increasing taxes on those already living paycheck to paycheck would do? Besides cause more suffering?

Healthcare and the military are bankrupting the country.
If you remove social security (as it is a insurance program that is paid into) and add all the miscellaneous military expenses such as healthcare and retirement the picture shifts substantially.

It will cause them to see taxes in a totally different way

Right now they pay little or no taxes and to them government is Santa Claus

So they never question spending as long as they get theirs

So we should cut government programs these families depend on and increase their taxes... Basically you want to see them and their children starve.

You you are “pro-life” also, right?

Yeah, That would take us back to a pre-French Revolution era. Before the Magna Carta, even. Right into the realm of Fascist dictatorships and Stalinist oppression.

Ok. So then it's clear your proposal is not serious. Got it!

Its a serious proposal even though deadbeats will never vote to remove their freebees

So I suppose the liberal goal to soak the rich is more likely to happen
