Many consider American Exceptionalism to be elitist. To the extent that American Exceptionalism is elitist, and President Trump is the foremost promoter of American Exceptionalism, President Trump Is elitist.

Ok. That doesn't make Liz Warren any less of an elitist though.

You one of those "Fight fire with fire" people? The 2016 election loss mess your party up that much?

As long as President Trump stands between me and those who would have their best intentions for me imposed upon me by force of law, I will stand with President Trump.

There is no way that the acaDem.edia can get enough people to hate President Trump enough to get them to cut off their own noses to spite his face to win the 2020 election.

    elitist:
a person who believes that a society or system should be led by an elite.

    elite:
a select group that is superior in terms of ability or qualities to the rest of a group or society.
a group or class of people seen as having the greatest power and influence within a society, especially because of their wealth or privilege.

I suppose it depends on the context. In the context of US government, Trump has the most powerand influence as head of the executive. so he is most elite. however, in the context of the political establishment, including as it does the corporate media, the financial power brokers, think tanks, secret societies and all the rest of the 'behind the scenes' goings-on, all of which hate Trump as a non-cooperative outsider, Warren is more elite.

Society should be lead by an elite; those elite are the Americans. It is best if we continue to lead the world. I am an elitist to the extent that I am an American Exceptionalist. We are exceptional. We are leaders. We are the greatest force for good in the world.

Nationally, I'm a libertarian. Internationally, I'm a nationalist. I sincerely believe in American Exceptionalism and that America's leadership in the world is best explained by, and maintained by, its liberality at home and its example abroad.

One came from humble beginnings and used hard work and intelligence to rise to the US Senate. One was given a huge real estate fortune and was taught the art of tax cheating and screwing over business associates by one of the best in the business, Fred Trump. I don’t know if either could be considered elitist, but there is no doubt about which one is a better person.

It doesn't just mean wealthy, but wealth & power are the cornerstone of elites. People with the money Trump has are an elite. That is beyond credible dispute. That wealth also brings social privilege & political power, which is another component of being part of an elite. That is also beyond credible dispute. Trump went to exclusive private schools and colleges paid for by daddy - elite. Trump's business success is based on the money & connections of his father - elite again. Trump has never had top go out and get a job based on ability, he could have lived his entire life as part of an elite by merely working for daddy until daddy died & he inherited. That is as elite as an elite person gets.

Warren is smart. She was smart enough to get a scholarship. She has worked for most of her life and has worked in areas that choose smart people. Sometimes that work is well paid, sometimes not, but it doesn't grant people special status. I suppose you could classify a small societal subset with a particular skill as an 'elite', but using that criteria society is full of 'elites'.

There are people who are strong and who work in areas that choose strong people - I suppose you could call that 'elite'. There are people who are good with their hands and make or repair things, often for pretty good money - I suppose you could call them an elite. There are people who are good at managing other people - once again, if being part of a subset with a particular skill makes you elite then these people must be too.

Funnily enough the same people who want to dismiss smart people as 'eilte' aren't as keen to so the same with other smaller groups with a particular skill. It is almost as if they are singling out one skill set that they happen to resent.

I guess some people might see politicians as part of an 'elite', and there is justification for that. Politicians have power and influence. However, that means that any & all Presidents, members of Congress, Governors etc. are part of an 'elite', which doesn't make it a useful designation by itself when comparing to other politicians.

We are talking about "elitist" rather than elites. They are entirely different things. Your long diatribe was interesting and all, but is has absolutely nothing to do with the notion that the OP is talking about which is people calling Elizabeth Warren an "elitist"

    e·lit·ist
    /əˈlēdəst,āˈlēdəst/
    Learn to pronounce
    adjective
    1. relating to or supporting the view that a society or system should be led by an elite.
"older men with an elitist attitude about music"
    noun
    1. a person who believes that a society or system should be led by an elite.
"critics portray him as an out-of-touch elitist"

As you can see "elitist" does not mean the same thing as elite. If you are wanting to equate Elite to being old money wealthy, then of course that doesnt apply to Elizabeth Warren. If you are wanting to say that Warren is an academic elite, sure, that label applies. You are arguing against the notion of elite, but that isnt the topic.

When considering the actual definition (provided above) of an elitist......big government liberals support the view that government can better spend your money than you can. Government in their view is a better force for the greater good than is the decision making of the free market public. That is the characterization to which Republican are referring when they call Elizabeth Warren an elitist. She is the absolute epitome of that mindset. She believes that the government elites, directed by the academic elites, know best how to run society. That is precisely why they advocate a bigger, more all encompassing government. A small government Conservative on the other hand, is the very opposite of an elitist, because their aim is to empower the individual rather than the government.

"Elitism is the belief or attitude that individuals who form an elite—a select group of people with an intrinsic quality, high intellect, wealth, special skills, or experience—are more likely to be constructive to society as a whole, and therefore deserve influence or authority greater than that of others."
