She's an insulated old biddy trying to assuage some of the guilt of being 'filthy rich royalty' before she dies.

 

I respect people who stand up for what they believe in regardless of whether I agree or not. In my book Jane is a stand up broad. Many of her stances cost her a lot of money in the movie business. At one point she had no money and she saved her ass with her workout video. Then she revived her career with her beauty and talent. She is not a billionaire but whatever money she does have she earned it.

 

She's a champ. Greta Senior. Should we beatify her?

God knows, we don't have enough ivory tower dwelling rich white saints!

 

Her life and her career speaks for itself. Like Frank said: “The record shows, she took the blows”...She is and always has been the real deal. She has been hated on heavily by the Hannitized Ditto Heads for decades and she has always handled it with grace and dignity. She has already produced an incredible body of work that would be coveted by most any actress which will be enjoyed by people a century or more from now. I wish her all the best and hope she enjoys the rest of her amazingly interesting life.

 

Think about being forever judged by the worst moment of your life caught on film. I sure as hell wouldn’t want that. Would you?

 

So you'd have exactly the same opinion of her were her politics and activism for the opposition?

I mean, you wouldn't want to give the impression that you only say nice things because she's a fellow believer. No sir. Because that would do the opposite of lauding her .. it would in fact detract from her 'achievments'.

 

If you're willing to put yourself on film, you willingly accept what goes along with that. Unless you're brain dead, or insane, or some kind of intractible narcissist.

 

When a bunch of whacky liberals wanted to take John Wayne’s name off the Orange County Airport because of his political views and some statement he made 50 years ago I was disgusted and said so. He was another guy who spoke his mind and used his celeberty to speak out politically for what he believed in. He, like Jane was an iconic figure in American film and pop culture. They were from opposite sides of the political spectrum but I respect and like both of them and appreciate their contributions to The American Experience. Being a person from LA and having worked in the past as a grip and gaffer, I know that both Jane and Duke were respected by fellow actors and well liked by the union guys pulling the cables and setting up the scenes.

 

Very pleased to hear this. Jane (and the Duke!) thank you for not reducing their work to a sidenote.

 

She accepted it, explained her side of it and apologized to anyone who was hurt by her actions. She is definitely not brain dead and she was there on a mission of peace in her mind.

 

I see that she didn't mention calling the captives "crybabies" and turning the notes they slipped her over to their captors.

 

I also like and respect Michael Moore, but I thought the way he treated Carlton Heston in Bowling For Columbine was disgusting. I said that to his face one time and he said he did regret that and wished he had edited it out and apologized a few years after and especially when Chuck died. People do stupid and snotty things and later learn from them.

 

Probably because that never happened, but don’t let that stop you from hating her like a good Ditto Head.

 

She had to apologise for Vietnam, Hanoi Jane... not sure she'll be alive long enough to give her second apology when she finally gets a clue.
