Uncovered tax documents show Trump kept '2 sets of books' and may have committed financial fraud

    Newly uncovered tax documents from President Donald Trumpcontain several discrepancies that real-estate experts said could point to financial fraud, ProPublica reported on Wednesday.

    The documents obtained by ProPublica were part of records for four Trump properties in New York City: Trump International Hotel and Tower, 40 Wall Street, Trump Tower, and 1290 Avenue of the Americas.

    Tax records for 40 Wall Street and the Trump International Hotel and Tower reportedly contained discrepancies that could raise some red flags — specifically, the numbers made the properties look more valuable to lenders and less valuable to tax authorities, ProPublica said.

    What Trump did is fraud.. He inflated profits to show the bankers and minimized them for the IRS.

    Tax value not value of the buildings and it looks like he appealed the value based on fraudulent figures given to tax authorities. Had he not appealed the figures this may not have been an issue, but we will have to see the records to see if those are the only inconsistencies.

    ProPublica obtained the property tax documents using New York’s Freedom of Information Law. The documents were public because Trump appealed his property tax bill for the buildings every year for nine years in a row, the extent of the available records. We compared the tax records with loan records that became public when Trump’s lender, Ladder Capital, sold the debt on his properties as part of mortgage-backed securities.”

    Two separate things conflated into the same topic.

    Sounds about right.

    So, in the last paragraph, ProPublica took a look at property tax appeals and compared that to his loan records from at least 10 years ago, and they were different numbers?

    They are rated as center left to left leaning but have a “high” factual reporting on each of them.

    I guess we can be conspiratorial and just say all the fact checkers are in on it.
