no it wasn't, much of the Benghazi investigation was behind closed doors in committee as well - republicans said no non-committee member allowed, they said that was the rules

both republicans and democrats are on the committee, you do know that right?

the republicans that violated the rules when they stormed in, are not on the committee - same would happen to dems that are not on the committee

poor Trump supporters, can't defend Trump's actions so have nothing left to do but attack the process, sure sign they know Trump is guilty

So you should testily prior to knowing what you are being accused of? That doesn't sound like justice to me.

That's right. The whole House is the investigator.

At any point in a trial, or at any point in an investigation of a person accused of a crime, does only one side have authority to call witnesses and investigate the accusations?

Or does both the defense and the prosecutor have that opportunity at all stages post accusation?

Perhaps if you get accused of a crime you'd be fine with your defense attorney being denied all access until you get to the court date.

Crooked Ron went to prison for income tax evasion years ago. And so he blames Trump for HIS OWN income tax evasion? Typical of the Trump Haters and other liars.

LOL! Are you really calling the Washington Post a Fake News newspaper?
    That may represent progress. ;-)

The fifth amendment is always an option. And congress can’t charge anyone anyway.

Trump said he would respond to a subpoena when they had a formal vote for a legitimate impeachment hearing. He won't cooperate with the current dog and pony show.

Was Benghazi an impeachment investigation? Lefty talking points try to equate the two. How many investigations do the Dems currently have on Trump, his family, his businesses, and anyone who has known him since childhood? Do you think any of those investigations are open? I sure haven't heard much about them other than they are ongoing. Impeachment is voted on by the whole House, so the whole House should be able to see the evidence.

    I will either way.

The defense attorney only gets access to exculpatory evidence, once it's been gathered. AFAIK in a grand jury, only the prosecutor is in the process. The defense doesn't get to be a part of the indictment process.

There are republicans on these house committees, who are able to review this material and ask their own questions, but they are at the whims of the majority committee members, just as with Benghazi hearings.

Closed door depositions were ok by Graham during Clintons impeachment process as well, as they were the litmus test of whether to move forward into hearings in his view.

So another phony item in our constitution he disagrees with so he can just ignore?
He also said he would release his tax returns as soon as he ran, after audit, and after the election. How did that turn out?
Want to bet he doesn’t comply even when/if they have the “formal vote”?
