Gordon Sondland testifies that Ukraine aid was conditioned on Biden investigation

Driving the news: Sondland, a key figure in alleged efforts by President Trump and Rudy Giuliani to pressure Ukraine to investigate Joe Biden and the 2016 presidential election, revised his Oct. 17 testimony on Nov. 4, according to the transcript. He stated that he told an aide to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that military assistance would not be released until Zelensky issued a statement agreeing to investigate a gas company with ties to Biden's son.

Of course, this now begs the question of who gave Sondland the authority to tell the Zelenskyy aide that "condition?" I'd seriously doubt that the guy who gave Trump a million dollar contribution to become the EU ambassador is going to allow Trump to throw him under the bus. And, why was the EU ambassador talking to an Ukrainian official, when Ukraine is NOT a member of the EU?

Yes. The President can't dictate foreign policy in his own personal interest, particularly when it endangers the national security of the United States.

Trump abused his power when he sought campaign assistance from a foreign government in the form of an investigation against a domestic political rival while he simultaneously and unilaterally held up hundreds of millions in military aid, a requested meeting, and a restoration of trade rights. He then obstructed justice when he tried to hide, lie about, and actively obstructed the investigation by ordering all current and former employees to not participate.

Yes, an announced investigation into a BASELESS allegation against Joe and Hunter Biden or an investigation into the "crowdstrike server" is a campaign assistance because the former will pose a negative point, with some much needed credibility for that conspiracy theory, against his political rival and the later would pose a positive point, again with some much needed credibility for that conspiracy theory, against the Russia investigation.
