I shall always defend our troops from recalcitrant Americans or ther pals, American foes.

We were gone from Vietnam around 2 full years then the Communists took on the South again. Why would you not blame the South Vietnamese? As to Korea, Eisenhower as a General should have known better. Truman too. Do not enter wars then forget how to win.

I blame Johnson a lot for how it went in Vietnam. He could have won and done so fast.

You seem to be happy about that. Not sure why you don't have the most powerful nation in the world (the U.S.) as an ally.

i shall never wrap my mind around things said by enemies to our own troops. I just do not get why they say what Democrats say.

We have some Germans who tend to side with the former East Germany and seem not to like those living in what I knew as West Germany.

I think of Germany as pretty much the equal to one of our own states, that is Montana.

I’d like to point out this:
    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Powers_of_the_president_of_the_United_States#Commander-in-chief

Congress authorized the use of force and it was thought at the time that Saddam was a threat.
No matter how you spin it, everything was legal and served constitutional requirements.
    Both wars were military successes.
The only failure was in political will. I am the one who supports smash and grab type of war - come at full force, take what you want and then get out.

Trump and his so-called German "ambassador" are behaving like arrogant bullies. They are stupidly and needlessly destroying our relationship with Europe's most advanced nation. Yet Trump bends over backwards to accommodate the whims of the savages in Saudi Arabia. Absolutely disgraceful and embarrassing.

The failure was political, economic, social, cultural, and spiritual. It did massive harm to the country and the world. It was a dismal, rotten enterprise on every level.

So you support large scale murder and banditry.

Then everything can be described under the catchall "political objective". It therefore means nothinng.

That's your understanding of history, huh? You feel Hitler was a success? Mussolini? Communism? Did you attend an American school?

But of course there was no such rebuttal. Seriously. Where did you go to school?

Things in Germany may have been cleaned up since I lived there but have you had the bad luck to smell a lot of those towns in Germany? I mean they smell like Barn yards smell.

As to Trump, he quit kissing Germany's arse. As he should have. When I served and lived in Germany, our troops were out in the cold weather. Guess how many German troops I saw out learning how to protect Germany with our troops? Did you guess it was zero with us?

    That’s just your opinion.
    I’m talking about realities.
No, what I don’t support is nation building - if we go to war somewhere we should get what we came for and leave. No need to feed feel-good liberals with nation building.
If it was up to me the war in Iraq would look like this - massive invasion, execution of Saddam, and all military leaves. If hostile to us forces come to power again - repeat. Oh, yeah, and Iraq would pay war reparations, in money, central bank reserves or exclusive oil contracts.

"Poverty" in the US isn't really poverty. Plenty of food, smart phones, $100 tennis shoes, daily trips to Starbucks and an automatic transmission in their car.

Everything you said so far is just your opinion.

The only difference is that my opinion is backed up by reason, whereas yours is backed up by nothing but tortuous semantics.

    No you aren't.

The war in Iraq never should have happened in the first place. It was based on lies.

Compared to the standard of living in Germany, it is poverty.

If that were true, of course not. Germany does not OWE the USA a thing as to who they purchase from. They buy plenty from Russia as you well know. So I do not even hope that Germany works in a fair manner.

The Bush Admin. did not lie about Iraq. The U.S. CIA Director personally assured President Bush that the evidence of WMDs in Iraq was a "slam dunk".

What was Bush supposed to do when he was told that?

Any alleged lies commenced when Clinton was president and reinforced even for Bush. Bush challenged George Tenet, installed by Clinton, ... Can you assure me George Tenet that Saddam actually has WMD? Tenet a Clinton holdover says to Bush, it is a slam dunk Mr. President. I got this from General Tommy Franks.

In a serious war for the United States a lot of more people get killed than a couple of hundred a week. In World War Two the U.S. lost about 1,000 a week.

You are 100 percent correct. Tenet said that directly to Bush. Democrats at the time were angry with Saddam and wanted war.

Franks reported his losses in Iraq were perhaps 130 of his troops who defeated Saddam Hussein in a super fast war. Democrats get confused by the later on civil war where some Iraqis fought other Iraqis. But that had nothing to do with Franks nor our Army. We happened to be there when they did it.

What Democrats and other critics of the Iraq War also don't mention is that

"Yeah, hundreds of thousands of Iraqis were killed in the wars aftermath. But virtually all of them were killed by other Iraqis. The U.S. isn't to blame that Iraqis acted like savages."
