This image was widely circulated on the internet as being authentic and in fact, I copied it off this very forum. Zelensky wants nothing to do with getting in the middle of a US election issue when his country depends on support from both Republicans and Democrats though. As an initial matter, that has absolutely zero bearing on the obstruction charge. But let me address the potential relation to the abuse of power charge.

The legitimacy of the request for an investigation would have zero bearing on the method that Trump used to request the investigation. Even if Biden confessed to a crime, it would still be an abuse of power to unilaterally hold up hundreds of millions in miliatary aid, a requested meeting, and a restoration of trade rights just to get an announced investigation from a foreign country.

If you have that type of evidence, any really, that a domestic citizen committed a crime, then you let the domestic investigative agencies handle the investigation and let them make the proper request for cooperation from a foreign government if they so require or desire.
