In old China slightly pre Confucious the emperor a wise man as men go decided he needed some help administering the state because the whole thing was just too complicated too much stuff going on and way too many people for one man, however wise, to keep up with so he sent assistants out into the towns and villages to find the best and brightest young adults to be brought back to the capital and trained in the art of management so that could then return home and accurately report to the emperor what was happening to better aid him making decisions for the empire. The system worked well for a while but in the end Mandarins grew their nails quite long to show their contempt for those who did manual labor and looked down on those they were supposed to be serving and became loyal only to themselves and there perks. They ran China for every foreign conqueror and emperor until Mao exterminated them in his power take over in the fifties.

I say all this to point out the fact that our own mandarins have become just like those of old China, contemptuous of those not like themselves, vein and arrogant myopic to the point that they not only can't create new ideas on their own after all they've got their formulae that they have always used but immune to new ideas that are brought before them. They will drag us to hell if we let them get awau with the crap they are doing to DJ Trump.

Yup, Trump and his family have become pretty arrogant and contemptuous of people not like them. They call them snowflakes and fake.
Trump doesn't pass any legislation through Congress, It's been 95% Executive Orders because he unable to build coalitions. This has been a problem with the Executive branch since 9/11 ... and Congress let them make that power grab. Now the people's representatives are trying to take that power back - by impeachment if necessary. The Founding Fathers gave Congress the power of oversight. Trump FanBoys want an Emperor, not a President who is part of three-branch government.

I'm not sure I get the allegory. Is Trump supposed to be the one contemptuous of those not like him, vein, arrogant and myopic. Or is he supposed to be Mao?

They both kinda fit. Trump certainly behaves like a dictator. But the vein, arrogant, myopic,... descriptions most definitely fit him like a glove.

Actually, no one here asked you for contribution. Or to troll the original post. No one asked for that.

It is kind of the nature of conservatives, isn't it? That lack of curiosity. That is why strong liberals don't fall for consevatives thought. We ask questions that can't be answered, as conservatives nod their heads in agreement, unaware of the logical fallacies.

    Nice deflection, I guess?

If you claimed you were asked to contribute- just cite it real fast. Should be easy- this thread is only one page.

I quoted a song lyric. It was in the song. That is why at the bottom it says -John Lennon.

Anyhow, I'm not sure why conservatives are now positively comparing Trump to Mao, but as the song goes, "But if you are going to go carrying pictures of chairman Mao (Trump) you ain't going make it with anyone anyhow."

Liberals don't allow us to compare people anymore. You guys get all butthurt the moment Hillary or Obama are mentioned. I don't blame you guys for trying to deflect. I would too if I were in your shoes. 2016 really messed your party up!

Look on the bright side, at least you have Warren! lol

One problem is the "Beltway Culture" that believes
only one of them is worthy to be President.

I noticed it first with Senator Ted Kennedy subverting President Carter, Gov. Georgia.
    The attitude towards Reagan, similar.

Something both parties are guilty of. The government has become a piggy bank for so many of our lawmakers that they no longer serve anyone but themselves.

Derailing the thread again, I see. Looks like the alt left radicals (the few we have left on this forum) have taken to trolling as a last resort.

The average Chinese citizen today is much better off than they were prior to Mao's long march and ascendancy to leadership.

Some Democrats have a hard time accepting the fact that arrogance and dismissal of the working class and Red States cost them the 2016 election. Some still don't get it but for others 2016 was a wakeup call. Those "some Democrats" have a genuine dislike of red states as being red - neck, uneducated, and stupid. The rest of the Democratic Party has reached the conclusion that 2016 was largely their fault, which is a good thing.

On the other hand, Republicans made a huge mistake as they continue to support a man clearly unfit to hold the office. There were a number of Republican candidates that were qualified for the job (Jeb Bush was my favorite). Sticking with the unfortunate choice through thick and thin, has compounded the mistake. Now it's their turn to "come to Jesus."

50 years since Mao's death he's much less likely to be eaten by the local school kids.

For those of you who still don't get it the Mandarins were bureaucrats not politicians.

Yep you got out of your way to reveal a striking ignorance of history and reality combined with an amazing inability use logic and
common sense to derive an obvious connclusion.

I was Confucius who proscribed the system you are describing - getting the brightest together to try to figure things out .

China has gone back to Confucianism subsequent to Mao - and they are making good moves on the geopolitical chessboard - while - as you infer - we are floundering around.

The problem is that you don't seem to understand who "They" are. Sure it is Blue Establishment but, Red is doing the same.

You misunderstand. I am not referencing politicians red or blue at all. Instead I am referencing our increasingly ineffective and venal administrative state.
