Trump questions why Lt. Col. Vindman is wearing his Army uniform to testify even though he’s require

Trump is always petty. And in this instance he should have just trusted his staff instead of sending his lawyer. But even so. Nothing impeachable went on.

 

This is true. But his service in regards to Ukraine was questionable.

 

Oliver North was in uniform when he testified. Saying Vindman whould not be in uniform is inappropriate.

That being said Vindman is clearly a man who should wear a uniform -- that is as a man who should be courtmartialed.

 

No. It was't. He reported something he heard. He didn't disregard orders. There is nothing in the military code that says an officer can't report something they have heard or seen that they find questionable. He took an oath to the Constitution, not the President who happens to be in office.

 

His behavior was questioned by those he worked with and did not have the confidence of his co workers or supervisors. He didn't follow the chain od command and his testimony was refuted by people who knew more than he did..

He did a bad job

 

What charges would you bring? Reporting a call that was absolutely made by the President that he, and dozens of people more versed in the law than he is, found questionable? He took an oath to defend the Constitution and that was what he thought he was doing. How do you court martial a soldier for that?

 

6 people witnesses the call. Only one of them had any issues with it..

No. Then his superiors did a bad job for keeping him at his post - unless of course, his evaluation was just fine until AFTER he came forward ... and he did produce a job evaluation from his superior that was very complimentary. His testimony has also been supported by people who knew more than he did. Several Ex-Secretary of State ( including Rex Tillerson) have supported the claim that the call was "inappropriate". Vindman is not some lone wolf on this issue.

 

It reminded me of an old movie classic when one of the actors had the line: "They call me MISTER Tibbs". If I recall correctly he was talking to a buffon a lot like trump.

 

And millions have read it, and a number of Republicans and State Department officials, both past and present, thought the call inappropriate. This is not just Vindman's lone wolf opinion.

 

inappropriate? so what.. farting loudly in a movie theater is inappropriate too..

 

I say inappropriate only in that it is Congress' job to decide if it is an impeachable offense. But good to see you agree that Vindman was not incorrect in reporting a questionable action by the President.

 

What has gobsmacked me is the 360 turnaround in relation to how veterans are perceived by Trump supporters

Try to imagine MLK’s approach. It’s not the uniform that’s judged, it’s the character of the wearer. If we ascribed to your theory, Timothy McVeigh, former Major Hasan, Oliver North, etc. would be your heroes.

 

I provided specifics in a comment in another thread so I am not going to repeat the detail here -- but the basic reason for a court martial is Vindman violated government policy for whistleblowing in the intelligence community. Incidents must be reported to the Intelligence Agency IG who evaluates the incident and reports it to the Congressional Oversight Committee. If, and only if, the IA IG determines that what is reported in not credible can the whistleblower report directly to Congress.

 

Or even Lt. William Calley who was convicted of 22 counts of murder.

 

Me too, but only the Democrat administration ordered us to wear our dress uniform when off duty when the opposition party had rally in Memphis, so this Georgia boy could not go to the political rally for Raygun, because the plan of the day also reminded us that we could not go to political rallies in uniform.
Then later my absentee ballot was sent to Antarctica, I was not in Antarctica.

Is that a political rally or a serious function, it's hard to tell.

 

Vindman reported the incident to the lead legal council and his superior at the NSC prior to his testimony to Congress.

 

Just more verification some are unable to see people as individuals and judge on merit. It’s always labeling based on race, occupation, sex, geographic location, etc.

It’s become laughably predictable.

 

I requested Captains Mast, got the chit back disapproved, took it to legal, Captain's signature was forged, told to walk the chit to the top, that is take it to each person to be signed. Knowing your rights is important.

Thing is though, when I wrote Sam Nunn once, and dropped the letter off at the hanger mail box, before I walked the length of a C-130 wingspan, the sweating chief ran across the hanger to ask why, and the XO and CO were watching from the Mezzanine. I was just writing about our health care system. Then when they tried to fix the books, that is replace the embezzled funds, by cutting comrats, saying the base ordered it, I got a letter from the base legal department and proved irrefutably that three Officers and Gentlemen were LIARS! That's the CO, XO, and Legal Officer; LIARS!

So bright bulb, how would you know his service was any good?
