I just read the Dems’ impeachment report.

It said, “We’re still mad at Trump for winning the 2016 election & we know we can’t beat him in 2020.”

    They wrote it in crayon.

At least you're calling him a "candidate" and not a rival. Good job on reserving that word rival for someone who won the nomination. I'm not being sarcastic. That said, if a candidate for President can't be investigated, we have a whole TWO YEAR conspiracy we'd like to shove down people's throats.

-It was the conspiracy theory that this President was a Russian Agent of Putin, this expanded to accusing the then-AG of the US of the same.

-When that failed, there were accusations about the President at least aiding Putin, or his associates(Per Rosenstein authorization), of course, none of that materialized either.

And yet in spite of that, an investigation occurred.

You can't have the Trump-Russian conspiracy, and then say Biden alone is immune to investigation.

This is the kind of hasty low grade response of the Trump mentality. The fact is that the Missiles were held up. The fact is that Zelensky was out of the coveted misses because they were held up. Had they been sent in the same timely fashion as the others were Zelensky would not have had a reason to ask for them. In the transcript of what Trump called the perfect call Zelensky told Trump they needed more of the Javelin missiles. Immediately after the request Trump asked for a favor. one of which was crowdstrike information and the other was a new investigation of Joe and Hunter Biden. Trump never asked anything about Ukraine's billions of dollars of Corruption after Hunter left Ukraine in 2015. Every institution of Ukraine was corrupt from the banks to the rigged jury systems to the billions of dollars of unrecorded income in the corporate sector. All this corruption was expanding after Hunter left. But Trump only zeros in on the Bidens. If you don't believe me read the transcript if you have the guts to do so..

It's too bad that a criminal president undermines the country with his miserable lies but worse that so many swallow these lies.

The article I provided is the most recent reporting and it marks "the first public acknowledgement from an official in Kyiv that the country knew about President Trump’s move to withhold the assistance."

The fact that your source denotes they were checking the account in late August just establishes an upper limit on their awareness of the aid being frozen, not a lower limit.

I like your laser-like focus.... it's just directed at the wrong thing, as usual...

Reminds me of all the posts arguing that the FISA warrant was the impetus for the entire Russia investigation...

The right might want to start circling the cows (pun intentional) around your boy Devin.... it's generally not considered a good thing to be mentioned in an impeachment report that your committee worked on... Just sayin...

I read the transcript, and the argument you're making is an interesting one: The proof of extortion of the Bidens lies in not specifically calling out any other case. You're already better at this than Adam Schiff. However it's been said that Trump wanted to see these reform efforts, he wanted Ukraine to deal with its corruption, even if he didn't specifically single out an individual case.

But that's a better hypothetical than "2+2=4", so props for the intellectual honesty.

My objection is not fear (except for the whistleblower who has received direct and implied death threats from trump and his supporters). It is relevance. The only knowledge either has towards Trump's behavior in regards to Ukraine is based on testimony from others who have already testified under oath.

But you cant raise that objections in regards to people like Giuliani, Bolton, Perry, Pompeo, or Mulvaney. So what are you afraid of?

It's "been said" by who? And when? Certainly, after the jig was up, he's Mr. Anti General Corruption.... where are these statements before he was notified of the WB complaint in late August??

Frankly, if he DIDN'T "single out an individual case", he likely wouldn't be in the soup... All he needed to do was stick to the talking points on the call provided by Vindman... Having Ukraine clean up their corruption in general is official US policy. But that would have required reading....

    He couldn't do it...

EDIT - Ah... I found the section in the report...

    SNIP
NSC staff had prepared a standard package of talking points for the President based on official U.S. policy. The talking points included recommendations to encourage President Zelensky to continue to promote anti-corruption reforms in Ukraine, a pillar of American foreign policy in the country as far back as its independence in the 1990s when Ukraine first rid itself of Kremlin control.

The missiles were never held up because the missiles were not part of the aid. Funding for the missiles they buy was held up but release within the legal timeline. Trump was also concerned on holding up aid not only for Ukraine but for other countries because our allies were being stingy and he thought they should be ponying up more.

Of course after the Russia hoax investigation and the constant drumbeat from the democrats and the media it should be no surprise for Trump to want to find out what happened in 2016 or why the Biden's were making millions off a corrupt company from a corrupt country that did try to interfere in the 2016 election against Trump.

BTW, Trump provided lethal aid to Ukraine, not once, not twice, but three times which Obama never did because he was afraid of the Russians.

The whistleblower is protected. That's why Congressional Republicans as well as White House officials are not saying the name of the whistleblower. Deal with it.

And yes, impeachment is going to happen even though you will never see testimony from Schiff or the Whistleblower. Neither has any new information to add regarding Trump's conduct.

But you have convinced me of something. There is an alternative explanation to the "throw me in the briar patch" talking point besides desperation. It is the delusional belief that impeachment will somehow result in an investigation that actually yields a satisfactory result against Trump's political enemies.

Republicans: Trump provided lethal aid to a country that we want you to know was so corrupt that they were willing to pay the son of a VP millions of dollars and interfere in a US election.
