    This is correct. Every state has a different cost of living. Therefore, median incomes and poverty rates have different means when adjusting for the cost of living.

    A salary of $60,000 in Birmingham, Alabama a year might sound decent, but one would need to earn more double that amount to live in a place like New York City (I'm talking Brooklyn, not even New York, New York).

    You have to reach back to 1870 and 1878 respectively to attempt to make a point.

    During the time of our founding, slave ownership and women's roles were in alignment with societal norms world wide.

    Those things changed as societal values adjusted.
