Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez laughably declared "the world is going to end in 12 years if we don't address climate change", which is a preposterous claim, and then she proceeded to tell us that the solution was her "Green New Deal" that costs approximately $94 trillion ($600,000 per American household) and contained all sorts of "progressive" goodies that have absolutely nothing to do with the environment.

I'm old enough to remember reading the headlines in The Washington Post back in the 1970s that heralded the dawn of the new ice age (!), so climate alarmism and hysteria are nothing new or impressive to me.

Furthermore, there's the matter of this serendipitous fit of "progressive" candor on the part the UN's chief eco-socialist, Christine Figueres:

Little wonder "progressives" are the only people pushing the most recent climate crisis narrative and the eco-socialist agenda.

As Christine Figueres revealed, this isn't about the environment - it's about ideology and power. Since the fall of the Soviet Union "progressives" have figured out that the short route to controlling everyone's existence is controlling their health care and energy, and it's no coincidence or surprise to find that this is where their own energy and agenda is focused.

The problem I have with all the noise surrounding the Left's eco power grab is that it's distracting attention and energy from discussions and efforts that actually deal with the environment and conservation and how we can build on the gains we have made over the past 50 years in real, practical and cost-effective ways. Ms. Ocasio-Cortez can set her hair on fire, anoint herself the Savior and then lash out at people when they ask her how every household in America is going to make $600,000 magically appear out of thin air, but in the end she's not offering any solutions to anything. All she's offering is hysteria.

1) It's not a 'belief', it's verifiable reality. You - for reasons known only to yourself, but which can be guessed at - refuse to make the connection between consumer demand and subsequent production. WHO is demanding the electicity that providers keep providing (because they're in business)? Is it fish? How about trees? Maybe it's the hairier primates?
