It doesn't because its just a wiki overview article, but it is a semi-frequent problem in Parkinson's patients generally secondary to an increase in emotional eating as a side effect of medication, and an obvious inability to burn calories as you are used to with active lifestyles. Here is another link from a more clinical perspective. https://parkinsonsdisease.net/treatment/nutrition-diet/ "Nutritional goals for people with PD include improving fiber intake to reduce constipation, maintaining hydration, providing adequate energy to prevent weight loss or excessive weight gain, and preventing bone thinning and vitamin D deficiency. Now notice the difference between preventing weight loss, and preventing EXCESSIVE weight gain. In the later stages of PD, medications may be given three or more times a day, and protein-rich foods can become an issue."

Now notice the difference between preventing weight loss, and preventing EXCESSIVE weight gain. that is not accidental.

The reason weight loss is stressed more than weight gain in talking about Parkinson's, is because when you already have a 'terminal diagnosis' you aren't so worried about the long term impact of obesity on blood pressure, diabetes and heart disease. What may kill you in ten years is not nearly the problem as what will likely kill you five. Weight gain issues rarely matter to life expectancy in a parkinsons case, except insofar as they may impact quality of life issues or compound immobility in the earlier stages. The weight loss is a symptom of a failure to thrive state that comes from an inability to chew, swallow and digest nutrients in late stages and a tendency to just give up after the long arduous fight. Clinicians are normally far more worried about micronutrients, hydration status and constipation throughout those earlier stages that gaining some pounds and some fat cheeks.

Trust me whatever 'love handles' Ronstadt has, won't be something she will likely die with. They will be long gone before she is.

Not sure if you are serious or being funny. This is not Cindy Williams of Laverne and Shirley but there sure is a resemblance.

Here's another couple of links that suggest another reason. Here is a wiki article on one of the more invasive treatments for parkinsons and other brain related diseases https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neurostimulation here is a study of one of the side effects of such therapy. https://psychcentral.com/news/2017/...ight-after-deep-brain-stimulation/120064.html

    "
Parkinson’s patients who undergo deep brain stimulation tend to gain a substantial amount of weight after the procedure, but until now, the reasons for this have remained unclear. Now a new Italian study reveals that the post-operative weight gain may be associated with several factors, including an increased desire for food, a certain level of impulsiveness in some patients, duration of the disease, and medication levels.

The findings are published in the scientific journal Cortex.

“The alteration of body weight is one of the potential complications of deep brain stimulation as a treatment of Parkinson’s disease,” said first author Marilena Aiello from the International School for Advanced Studies (SISSA).

“The origin was initially traced to the substantial reduction in motor symptoms, overlooking the role of the brain stimulation area — the subthalamic nucleus — in the reward system. Our intention was to assess the overall picture before and after the operation, from a clinical as well as a cognitive, psychological, and behavioural viewpoint”.

None of this is relevant to the OP or even nessisarily Linda Ronstadt being as nobody has provided a weight history, a height, a BMI, a dress or pant size or even a full body photo.

It's better than giving tax breaks to the incredible rich.... like Donald getting +100 million in governmental aid to play golf.

off topic but noteworthy since we are discussing singers:

Roxette singer Marie Fredriksson dies, aged 61

    https://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-50730052

    She died from cancer. RIP.

The group had just hit it big when we deployed to Australia and I can remember hearing them almost nonstop. Oddly enough, another tour back in '91-92 and I saw them live. Got invited, figured I would check them out.

Getting payed minimum wage is not being payed tax free or that buying food when poor is tax free. So your claim the poor don't pay taxes is fake. While Trump uses +100 million taxes from the poor to play golf ia true.

You love it when +100 million in taxes are spend on vacation bills by alleged multi millionaires? It's really strange how the GOP justify all this.

The poor don't pay taxes so Trump doesn't use money from the poor to play golf. However, the poor are supported by the wealthy and can therefore play golf at the expense of billionaires that a lot of taxes.

Funny how that works. Strange but true.

You're free to prove people who get food stamps because they are living on a full time job with a minimum wage don't pay taxes over their wages and don't pay taxes on the goods they pay. I asked you in my previous post. You're failing it. Hence I'm just casting aside that silly opinion of yours.

You tried to morph the discussion into an area we are not discussing but the point still stands and is correct: The poor do not pay Federal or State income taxes.

Come back when you decide to discuss the point and not try and take the discussion to a place nobody is going to...except you.

Not seeing any links to back this claim up. So I'm dismissing this fake news.

I saw an ad today that CNN is airing a documentary about her around New Years. I thought that seemed pretty random. Maybe it isn’t.
