Do y'all have issues understanding that this is two separate processes?
Or is this just a failed talking point?

Impeachment happens in the house with 50%+1 to approve the articles and send them to the senate
Removal and conviction happens in the senate with 2/3’s vote. A judge presides over it. It is a trial.

To recap: impeachment in the house (political process)
Removal and conviction In the senate (trial)

Because y’all don't understand what is happening doesn’t mean anyone has changed their position.

Exactly. Conviction in the Senate does not lead to prison. It leads to removal

But it IS a trial and the Senate IS the Jury

Someone has to be the adult in the room. That's Mitch.

Please highlight where I said criminal in the post you quoted.
It is a trial, no matter how much his base claims otherwise.
Fox news even calls it a trial.

Are you having difficulty understand the difference between a trial and a hearing?

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hearing_(law)
In law, a hearing is a proceeding before a court or other decision-making body or officer, such as a government agency[1] or a legislative committee.[2] A hearing is generally distinguished from a trial in that it is usually shorter and often less formal.[1] In the course of litigation, hearings are conducted as oral arguments in support of motions, whether to resolve the case without further trial on a motion to dismiss or for summary judgment, or to decide discrete issues of law, such as the admissibility of evidence, that will determine how the trial proceeds. Limited evidence and testimony may also be presented in hearings to supplement the legal arguments.[1]

Y’all are just making this up as you go along, aren't ya?

You don’t ‘prove your innocence’ in this country. Surprised you don’t know that.

Are the democrats aware of the optics of impeachment along party lines?

One of the charges are criminal — Obstruction
One is not — Abuse of power

I don't think the Dems care about the optics. They just want Trump GONE.

I do know that they sure missed on HELL of an opportunity with Trump. In more ways than one really. But the one I'm thinking of is that Trump was not a career politician. They could have used that to their advantage and helped themselves AND Trump if they had handled his election FAR better than they did. Unfortunately they fell slaves to the Woke Twitteraudi of the far left and have done nothing but attack him from day one.

nope none are criminal in the senate trial...........

"Appropriate evidentiary standards. The Senate does not have clear rules for what evidence is permitted at trial. Because the Senate is not a court of law and the Senators are functionally serving as both judges and jurors, the evidentiary considerations are very different from a criminal jury trial."

    https://www.citizen.org/article/senate-impeachment-trial-procedure/

    "
    Why?
Article 2, Section 4--". . .on impeachment for, and on conviction of, treason, bribery, or other high crimes or misdemeanors."

This implies that the impeachment process is not tightly linked to the criminal law."

Good to see you did your research that it is, indeed, a trial.

Show trial..... It is not similar to a CRIMINAL TRIAL...... closer to a trial on Law and Order SVU than an actual trial that you or i would be subjected to.

Look forward to seeing your response after the Democrats get slapped down in the Senate

I never said it was, I see you have switched from strawmen arguments to flat out lies. Expected I guess. I have never once called it a criminal trial. Obstruction is a criminal charge (in the courts) but the trial is not a criminal one. It is still a trial.

I accept the white flag, glad you admit it is a trial.
See, being informed isn’t that difficult after all!

Democrats have long known that it wouldn't pass the senate, so I don't see the problem. McConnel is merely saying he's going along with the President's lawyers, and how they want to go about this.

Really, this is a nothingburger, and democrats knew it was long before they decided that they would start investigating the President.

It is a political process in its entirety - but we -do- understand why you want to pick and choose.
Why do you think the GOP in the senate should be any less partisan that the Dems in the house?
